Its frustrating. The new "rebuilt" compressor on my 500SL locked up after 4 years or so. I decided not to have it fixed again; its not really needed on a convertible and I only put about 1000 miles on it a year.

Bad clutch??

Q: Are all AC compressors/clutches created equal? Are aftermarket compressors/clutches, rebuilt?

Took my 300 SD to a buddy of mine an indy in Memphis, TN., specializing in general BMW repair to R&R my AC compressor. He went with an Autozone compressor. He saved me a few hundred bucks, but it lasted one season. So much for cheap. I took it to an AC automotive shop in Dallas that specializes in AC only - best R&R AC I've ever had on the SD.

One summer in Orlando may change your mind on no AC.

If it is only leaking at the stepped port seals than it wouldn't be that complicated and I imagine would run in the $250-$400 range, with freon.
Cheaper if somebody does it themselves or knows somebody. W123 AC systems are very simplistic......

I just disconnected the compressor so it doesn't engage. The clutch works fine.

He should have asked before using some of Tyler's photos in his listing.

I gave him a call and chewed him out. He needs to take the photos I used down if he's going to do such a dishonest ad with the car, along with the ridiculous price.

This one is not 100% rust free. There was some around the trunk seal and just a hair bit of some from water damage in the trunk.

He also denied to me that he was a flipper.
