Remember the REVCON with the Isuzu turbo-diesel (around '81)?

My 1978 Vogue was ahead of it's time!

But we bought the Vogue with a 440 c.i. V8 Dodge in it with 25K miles on it, then had the Isuzu I6 installed in 1980.

The used 440 sold for $500.00 in the newspaper.

The Isuzu I6 in-the-crate was about $5K, and installation $2K. Mated-up extremely well to the Chrysler Torqueflite 727 auto transmission.

Best coach I ever drove as far as engines go! And best MPG too!

Much better than my 7.3 liter Powerstroke turbo - and the Vogue Isuzu was non-turbo AND the coach was much heavier! This was 30 years ago too! I friggin' loved the sound of my Isuzu I6 at IDLE! Loved it!

I remember Revcon from that late 70s-'80s genre, but didn't know that they put Isuzus in them, Jeff.

Man you're a BIG dude!

No wonder you wanted and own an Excursion!

The Isuzu straight-four, if put in a full-sized Lincoln Town Car, would yield (my Dad and I estimated) 40+ mpg! And we had this discussion 30 years ago about retrofitting my Lincoln Town Car!

That's how dam good the Isuzu engine is!!!

I have lost weight since that picture though. it was taken year...year and a half without my permission.. guy who drove it back took my camera...that Isuzu could go anywhere and barely burn fuel, I loved it, and i miss it

No slam - you look great in the picture. Putting a face with the handles around here is always good! Glad you lost some weight - my next door neighbor 60 yrs. old weighed 325 lbs. He's 5'11". He is now 200 lbs. He walks (2) miles in the morning at 5 a.m. before going to his stressful job downtown Dallas, then walks (2-4) miles at a park on the way home from work. That, and he eats a little less. He wants to get to 175 lbs. He said; "he wants to lose about 1/2 of himself." His blood sugar and cholesterol are back normal.

If you are walking to keep it off, you are doing the right thing!

Any truck that can help you earn-a-living, as my coaches do for over the road travel versus motel bills, OR your Excursion.Isuzu did ARE good trucks in my book!

I have a better pic if you want it lol, I got that truck to scrap haul until the Trans Blew out, and other small issues, and then the metal prices fell, so I sold it off, I got the excursion to do lawns, but that diddnt pan out, I'd love to be able to buy a couple cars, fix them and sell them again. I loved doing it and it's a nice way to meet people

There's a guy around these forums that does the combing of craigslist, buys cars that have a price advantage to them for quick cash to the seller, then re-sells them for a profit. I'm not naming names, but most of us know the guys that buy/re-sell around here. It's risky business buying and selling, because you never know what could/might be going out on the car - unless you have a good handle on buying-re-selling. His strategy is to do nothing in the repair department on 'em - but make $s on the difference in selling at a profit. Workin' on 'em is a whole 'nother ballgame.

I do the work to get them safe and will go for awhile without needing repair. I wont sell crap. If I get a junker I'll part it out or scrap it. the quality of the car will mean more to me then making 2x what I paid. I'd rather be safe then sorry I guess

since that other truck is not currently running, and the owner said it is more of a tilt-bed than a true "rollback" i decided to go this route instead...

the benz rollback.. w1116 please

i would love this guys info. were looking for one for a project and we really need the right thing. rollbacks are soo much easier than a tilt but the tilt can work ok with the right winch no problem. and not running is always more cost effective. thanks guys. shoot me an email at berserkerfilm at gmail with his info please.

The best and safest way to move em. I dont let AAA tow mine with a wheel lift. I've turned away 2 wheel lifters and waited for a rollback. Not taking a chance
