FS: Blue 1983 300D in Northern KY
I am looking to sell my 1983 300D with 190,000 miles on it. After owning and maintaining this car for the past five years, I am ready to pass it on to a new owner. I am a field service technician and have a very keen understanding on keeping machines operating at peak efficiency. My car stands at the forefront of this mindset and it shows in all areas. Brakes, shocks, rack damper bolt, radiator and heater hoses, belts, alternator, battery, muffler, mono valve, block heater, axles, glow plugs, fuel hoses, fuel filters, cigar hose, power steering filter, water pump, sway bar bushings, windshield, shifter bushings, and a whole host of other parts I can't think of have been replaced by me. As things stand right now, the car has four brand new tires and the motor mounts have just been replaced (I don't like rocking engines at idle.) Each and every spring, the car gets a diesel purge, all fluids and filters are changed and the valves are adjusted (I will include the wrenches with the car). The sunroof works and does not leak. There are no audible rattles anywhere on the car. Heater works (and how), A/C has been converted to R-134a, and I add some Power Kleen every fill up (lubes the fuel system.) There is also a full sized spare tire and the original first aid kit.
After 27 years, the car is starting to show typical signs of wear. The radio doesn't work, the A/C needs a recharge, and rust is starting to take hold in some areas; the driver side door being the worst. The odometer works, the tachometer sometimes doesn't. Other than that, the car looks great and runs even better. Just to sweeten the deal, I am also including a complete set of 4 snow tires for the upcoming winter. While I'm thinking about it, I also have the 250,000km mileage badge from Mercedes Benz. The car gets 26mpg, receives lots of compliments, has been very well maintained, and runs beautifully. It is currently garaged in Erlanger, Kentucky; about ten miles south of Cincinnati, Ohio. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. The asking price is $3,800 OBO. If you are not interesting in purchasing the car, please do not post any comments in this thread. Here are a few pics I took. The paint has been cleaned, polished and waxed; the pictures don't do it justice. The rust spot at the lower part of the driver side door is the worst spot on the car. No visible rust on the passenger side, front. Small rust spot on rear fender well. No major dings or dents anywhere on the car. Driver side seat has a small slash mark, but the material is not torn (tough stuff.) A working odometer showing actual miles. Brand new Bridgestone tires on all four corners. Good Year snow tires included with purchase. Last edited by olsaltybastard; 10-21-2010 at 10:27 PM. |

My apologies for not responding earlier.
Christian, if you are interested in the car, please PM me your contact information and I will get with you at your convenience. This car is a beauty; fewer rattles than my 2010 Toyota Corolla!! Hard to believe such little interest in the car, especially on this site. Must be the moon... |

Car has been sold......oddly enough to the guy I bought it from five years ago. He couldn't believe how much nicer it looks and drives since I've owned it.
