FS: 1992 300CE, 75k miles - Potomac, MD - $4895

1992 Mercedes 300CE Coupe

75k original miles! Beautiful car that spent most of its life in Florida as a snowbird car and then came up to Maryland for the last several years. The car has been well-maintained and is mechanically and structurally sound. Very clean and rust-free. When you look closely, the clearcoat on some panels shows crazing (i.e. light cracking) from sun exposure (as was common to the medium and lighter metallics in that era) but is not peeling and looks quite good overall. The car is reliable and drives perfectly. The only known issue is that the A/C compressor does not come on. The system (which has been converted to R-134a) was checked very recently and it has a full charge, so there are no leaks. It has not been investigated beyond this.

Come test drive the car to find out why people love driving them. It's a very fun car to drive with all the windows down and the sunroof open.

Why is the front bumper that of a car pre-92?

Accident? Parking stop damage? What's the story with that?

I am posting this for the owner of the car. He may have documentation that can support the mileage. It was a snowbird car in Florida, as I said, so only got driven in the winters for like 14 years. When the current owner bought it for his son, then in college, it had something like 35k miles. The last 40k were put in on the last 4-5 years. It has been garage kept since being in Maryland and has not picked up any rust.

As for the bumper, good eye, I didn't even think about that (I'm not as up on 124s as I am on previous models). The son got in a fender bender and so it must've been done then. Hood and left fender were repainted very nicely. Car looks very straight. What about it makes it pre-92? The fact that it's all black and/or doesn't match the rest of the moulding? If so, I can see what you mean, although as nice of a job as they did on the hood and fender, seems strange that they wouldn't put it back to how it was pre-accident.

Look at the picture of my coupe in my signature below this post. That is how the bumper should look (just color matched) on that 75k mile coupe. In addition, there should be chrome strips on top of the bumper just like there is on the rear bumper.

Edit: Never mind, I'll let the buyer search for things lol.

1992?

in addition to the front bumper query, the rear fill panels around the license plate only appeared in 1993 IIRC
