Although you're correct that E300 Diesel would help, there were no E300 gas.

I think Jimmy would have driven up to Wichita and thrown wrenches at my face if I did that.

Jeff,

I agree. I've lived it. Rubber parts on my Texas bought, SD started going at the 12 year mark. It was a one-owner, carported car when I bought it at 8 years, and I kept it garaged 100% of the time I was not on-the-road with it, it's next 8 years of ownership.

I'm not clear on the when or why flex discs go. My guess would have to be with how they were driven. I've never had an MB flex disc go in my family of MBs owned.

Good friends of mine that own MBs here in Texas now move them at the 10 year mark. Mine (12-years) is past due on selling.

Absolutely not! Folks that want this particular car will certainly know what it is called. You really have to step around behind the car to get that "money shot" of a view of the "Trunk Badge of Truth" from which all correct terminology is derived.

You really miss out if you don't peruse the diesel section.....

As for the price question raised earlier, you just need to be more familiar with the subject matter, and I don't mean that snarkily for a change. These cars, the '95 E300 {diesel for you visitors from the evil gasser section} are very difficult to come by. A "one year wonder". If I ever get back into a Mercedes diesel, this is the only year and model I would want. I would pay more than what Tyler is asking for one of these, and it would be very difficult to find one as nice as this one, especially inside. Couple that with zero rust, the fact that it was garaged always, parked in the shade at the offices of the dentist I purchased this car from {the original owner} and this represents VALUE, not the "least expensive" one you could find.
No 'hard sell' here on Tyler's behalf, I'm just very familiar with this particular subject matter, and very passionate about the quality of this example.
I just hope it doesn't end up in the rust belt. That would hurt.......

I was looking for an E300D and found one for parts $2700 in case someone wants to repair it:

Will ask my wife if she wants to spring for your car.

Don't let it hurt. I live in the "rust belt", I have winter cars. My 300TD has never seen salt, never will while I own it. My sport and exotic hardware has always graced the inside of a garage all winter, some of the finest examples of summer cars come from up here where they're used as fair-weather only cars as we typically have daily drivers also (by necessity) if we have sports-cars or exotics, ... and our cars don't see the harsh sun and heat.

I hope it ends up in the hands of someone who loves it, and drives it regularly, wherever it goes.

Not to rain on Tyler's parade but if the car is so fantastic and worth more than Tyler's asking, why did YOU give it up?

A lot of people cannot afford these old cars in numerous ways, at the end of the day. They either can't afford the time they take tinkering on them because they have to work, their spouse is ragging on the time they tinker on them, or, they cannot afford the repair bills getting stuff done to them keeping them on the road. Either way - something's got to give. That, I believe is why so many people own 3+ or more of them, simply so that something will start when they want to get somewhere, and do not have the time to tinker on 'em. I know one guy that owns 3 of the 25+ year old models that bought a 10+ year old BMW to get something dependable, that also wrote that he now cannot afford to put gas in the BMW - so it just sits.

These cars have a loyal following by people wise enough to know their true value. Some people just don't get it. Not that there's anything wrong with either. It all comes down to three things; money, time, and choice. Without money and time - there is no choice.

I used my '87 as a daily driver most of last summer/fall, by choice. It needed only elective surgery this winter (not driven in winter/salt), per the sig below.

The '95 is my favorite year 124 (last year), even though I much prefer the turbodiesel engine. It is my opinion that it can be a very economical car to own if it has a good history as this one seems to have, and very refined to drive. I wouldn't expect it to be a highly collectible car, even though it is fairly limited production, more of a practical/safe/economical car with much more character than a Honda of equal purchase price. Black is probably the best selling / most valuable color in most Mercedes sedans.

Well Jimmy, I just thought your post of you fawning all over YOUR previous car was quite the contrast of someone who generally bashes other peoples ads and claims THEIR car is not worth the asking price, although you may have never seen said car. We all know OUR cars are worth twice the asking price
