That's really hard to believe that you haven't found anything out there.

maybe he really means "everything" not too many sub-$4k, older cars out there without some issues. when i lived in albuquerque, i had a lot of guys looking at my $3000 cars that were really looking for $9000 cars. you might know what i'm talking about, eh?

Thanks for the replies.
The car that was posted looks OK, but he is asking a lot of money for it. About not being able to find anything, it seems that nearly every car I've found on CL has had issues with either the sunroof, the door locks, the windows, or the AC - very frustrating! Then, the cars that have everything working, people seem to think they are worth much more then they actually are! |

Looks like it's missing a couple trim pieces, but $4000 isn't much money to spend on a clean well cared for 123 with only 179k miles.

Your expectations are skewed if you think the car Mbeige listed as expensive.
Also, if you're passing over a car over a few dead window regulators that's a shame.

I'm more of the one with the $6000 cars that people think they should pay more in line with the $3000 average ones with issues.

The Los Alamitos $4,400 car is perfectly in line with what you said you were looking for.

They are out there, but you have to realize two things, you are being a little unrealistic, and are probably passing on good cars with easy to fix problems, and two, you will have to wait and look very hard for a good deal.
I picked up mine in socal for 2800, a/c wasn't working but was a cheap fix. |

I could sell you a 240D 4 speed for $2800. You will need to spend another $1,000-$1,200 to have the A/C sorted out; there's your $4,000 car. Windows are manual and recently serviced via me. I also went throught the central lock system so it works perfectly. Oh, you'll have to fix that auto antenna though. I've got it unplugged in the "Up" position. Everything else works, more or less, for now.
People want "too much" for the cars that have "everything working" because its very expensive to fix and sometimes difficult of for some to DIY. Myself included. My point is, none of these cars are 100% functional. And if they are, not for very long especially if its being driven...
