and I really can't be bothered fixing these little things, vacuuming the carpet like crazy and all that. I don't think there will be all that much difference. I paid 6, put some work and money in it and if I get 6.5 it's gone and otherwise it's storage. I'm in the US a lot anyway and I really like this car...
I think when it comes to selling a vehicle on Ebay you are seriously underestimating the effects of visual appearance. An ultra clean vehicle is a huge attraction. A hole in the dash where the radio once was is a big buyer turn off. Even if you just stuck a radio in there for the pictures and stated that it would be removed upon sale, it would make a difference. I'd even go as far as to say that pictures of the car with trash cans in the background are a drawback. Take a look at Tyler's pictures if you want to see examples of effective ways to display vehicles for sales. It may be worth your money to have him set up and photograph the car for you.

I think $6k is very optimistic for a vehicle with that many miles, even if it is a rare TD. I bought an 84 SD recently with lower miles and a new engine for $1500.

Oh, I know that's true, about pictures and all that jazz. I sold tons of benzes on ebay. I just didn't have the time now to be all anal about it. I may re insert it next week, if it doesn't sell this time, and fix the little things such as radio and oil pump.
who's Kerry? Is he in LA? Sorry, I don't have time to be looking at forums all the time, I only check in whenever I sell a car.

Also, guys really, what's the relevance of whatever great deal you got somewhere in rural USA on whatever benz related to the thread. I seriously don't get that. Yeah sure, the lucky few can pick up these cars from oblivious owners for peanuts. But us regular folks that live in the area's where it's cool and fun and nice and where people know the value of a w124 diesel, they are high. and sought after. in socal these cars are wanted. Some fools like to run them on cooking oil, or try and save the planet with biodiesel or what not. some people just know this is the best car ever made...

If your attitude is indicative of the way you maintain your vehicles....

...I'll pass.

Best wishes.

I didn't really want to get into this but:

There is trim missing from the third seat, the headlamp doors look bad, the wrong windshield-washer bottle, SLS fluid looks black, radio missing, mega-miles, the MOST COMMON color combination as all 350 dealers had white wagons with blue 'tex interiors for service wagons, no options, front plate holder missing, front bumper scrubbed, wrong wheels (but a good change there), missing roof-rack crossbars, trim loose in LR wheel opening, missing EGR vacuum line, dark anti-freeze, heat insulation missing from exhaust area, console wood VERY faded, seat-back nets sagging, appears to have a dash-cap over a bad dash, T-pillar and B-pillar trim loose, front valance cracked, is that a fuel cap on the oil fill? ... and that's just from a quick glance through the ebay photos. Also the history check comes up with no mileage records, no records at all before 1999.

Not trying to bust your chops as it does look like a nice car, but "MINT" on this forum has higher expectations as would "MINT" if I were looking to buy it.

My car is certainly not mint either, but were I to sell it in its current state I would focus on its strong points and not describe it as mint. If folks on this forum were to contest whether a #22 head added value on the other hand, I'd certainly argue with that.

all points agreed.
that #22 head REALLY looks good to me though.
that alone in my opinion sure does make it a tempting buy. but the rest of the car has plenty of warts.
I do wish you luck selling the car, and I have a customer looking for JUST this color combo of this wagon, so hopefully it's in his window of value... that 320K will surely scare him though.

Great eyes there! I know all that, but like I said, I can't be bothered fixing every little visual for a premium on ebay. It may make a $500 difference and I don't care that much. I had the car for less than a month, and as far as attitude/maintenance go: I changed the oil to shell rotella synthetic, busted out the cat, put new fuel hoses and filter and blew out the air filter. I also lubricated the oil pump.
let's face it, nobody on this forum will ever buy a car on ebay.
"Wow, no radio!! Ah forget about that one then"
Mint? To me this is mint after the junkheaps I usually see. And who knows, some ebayer may think the same. If I call it mint than it is mint allright you bunch of anal car bashers geez get a life

hehehe

Like I said: "it does look like a nice car", and it's much nicer than the average 300TD, I looked for two years to find a decent one. We simply have a different definition of "Mint". I probably have a bit of an issue with descriptions on these cars since I travelled around to look at cars that were in "excellent condition" and found myself always staring at someone else's POS that they don't want to pour money into but embellished a bit on the description EVEN WHEN ASKED DIRECT QUESTIONS ON THE PHONE! So I maybe have different standards of accuracy in descriptions (I also do the same buying deep-six-figure motorcoaches all across the country, same problem).

$6,000 for the head? A new one is around 1/4 of that but it would make nice furniture.

When you get back to DE you'll be able to find them with 606s, harder to find a high-spec one and in my experience older cars are not very prevalant due to the costs of passing the TUV, but post some photos when you find one.

Not sure what you expected from this thread. It seems pretty tame to me compared to other threads about Ebay vehicles. People are just stating their opinions. Assess them, and take them for what they are worth.

What did you expect! You posted it on this forum, trying to drum up interest in your car. You even said, you only frequent the forum when you have a car to sell. Too bad you didn't get the reception you were hoping for. This forum is more about Mercedes Diesel lovers, not Mercedes Diesel flippers. Good luck with the sale.

true that. well, I was hoping to find a nice wagon, manual, that's 25 years old and ship it back to the USA, considering that is possible. if over 25, the requirements are way less as far as bumpers and all that jazz.
indeed, hard to find a decent one in DE because they drive twice as fast as americans so the cars don't last as long. also, salt on the roads..
but imagine, a nce 606 with 5-speed and full options! ah!

Be wary of those who make disparaging marks under the guise of kidding.

They are not kidding - ever.

I don't flip them. I did for a while but there's no money in that. I paid 6, I want what I have in it. otherwise I don't sell it, it's too good of a car. I'm not worried about the miles, my last wagon had 600000 on it and ran perfect.
I like the interest on the forum, but mainly to see what people think. sometimes it actually helps!
I'm never on the forum other than that, I simply have no time to spare to talk about cars. I like Porsche and BMW way better anyway. especially nowadays.
