FS: 89 Mercedes 300se w126, 98k.

Price: $6,800 Willing to negotiate.

I am finally offering my excellent condition 89 300se w126 for sale. It has 98,000 original dealer maintanied miles on it. I have the service documentation to verify. I purchased this car in 08, and have only put about 9 thousand miles on it. Always parked/covered in the winter.

I am located in Cleveland, ohio
Mushroom leather interior, with zebrano wood trim.
3.0 liter inline 6 cylinder, engine # M103
Automatic transmission.

New items include:
8/28/08 New battery
3/31/09 New tires
7/15/09 New antenna, antenna grommet
6/5/10 Water pump, belt, intake manifold gasket, valve cover gasket, idle air hose, ignition cable, air filter, oil dipstick, a/c compressor, a/c suction hose, O-rings throughout a/c system, expansion valve, reciever/dryer, a/c system flush, ester oil, 2.3 lbs of R12 refrigerant, oil change, filter, coolant flush.
6/15/10 installed euro spec headlight assemblies.

I omitted the regular oil changes etc. from this list

I recently ordered new front pads, and a new front flex disc. I will install those prior to the sale. I also purchased a Mercedes benz car cover for the car at some point shortly after I bought it. That alone was $300.

The good: Basically everything. The paint is still shiny, no peeling. The interior is in fabulous condition. A/C works perfect. sunroof works, all the windows work... EVERYTHING works perfectly except what is listed below.

The bad. It will need a new hood insulating pad, and a front liscense plate bracket. There is two small rust bubbles right under the front turn signals. That Should be addressed right away before it starts to get out of hand. The original radio has a cassette stuck in it, however, the radio still works fine. There are some very minor scratches in random spots.

Finally, It has a hard cold start problem. It usually takes 2-3 tries to start it in the morning, but once it starts, it runs flawlessly. Warm restarts are always on the first try. I was told it could just need a tune up, or possibly new injectors. Its never really bothered me, as I only drive the car occasionally.

I can send more pictures upon request, or call me at 216-854-6372 to arrange a meet.

If you have any other questions, feel free to call or email.

Price reduced to $4,500 or best offer. Id really like to see this car go to a good home.

If you feel that is too much, make me a serious offer. If it does not sell in 30 days, im just going to trade it in.

Just took it home from LGA today and I really love the power and the smoothness of the I-6 as compared to the diesels.

I can't wait to get a 2.88 diff into it...........way too many revs for the highway that I really don't need.

Thanks Eugene for bringing it here!!

2.88 with second gear start? Better do a first gear start mod.

That's exactly what I want to do.

However, from all my reading on the issue, you cannot do a first gear start with the electronic relay module as would be possible with the V8's. Apparently, there is insufficient transmission pressure for the downshift at idle.

The question is whether anyone can modify the valve body to get it to always start in first.

I need more info on this topic if you know of any.

TIA.

I was reading through some info on Dave M's site and it mentioned one part in the valve body... put a spring on one side and it starts in 1st, put it on the other side and it starts in 2nd. I'll see if I can find it again.

I'm glad you bought the car, Brian. A car this nice deserves to be owned by someone who can appreciate it and care for it.

I thought long and hard about buying it myself....just couldn't justify owning a 5th car.

He'll, I just bought that 116 from David in Dallas. That brings me up to four myself. I just booked my one way flight out there, sept 12th (for rather obvious reasons I'm leery of air travel on the 10th anniversary of 9/11) and I'm ****ing excited for the road trip home.

I think Brian and this w126 will be a happy pair.

I cannot justify it either...............

I certainly cannot put it on the road until something gets sold. The insurance is killing me.

But, with only 100K on the clock and nearly perfect paint............I just couldn't resist it.

When I get the 2.88 and first gear start, it's going to be fantastic.
