1987 560SEL: Potential sale/Trade in CT

Hey guys,

I've been thinking it over for a while, and while I love my 560SEL with all of my heart, cruising around in an SEL as one person really isn't doing it for me. I'm not exactly what you'd call 'motivated' to sell, as I can easily live with the car, but my heart lies with another... a 560SEC.

Now, I know what you're thinking, SEL to SEC isn't exactly stepping it down size wise, but I love the styling, and don't want to leave the dependability/knowledge I have gained of the W126/M117 platform.

Alright, about my car:
- 3 owner car, 226,XXX miles as of today; I have over $28,000 in receipts since 2003.
-Originally a chauffeured car back in the day, purchased by my uncle in 2002 ish.
-He took immaculate care of it, and it shows; I have continued that tradition and made the 'necessary' upgrades as well.
-Midnight Blue on Orion Gray; all options except the sunroof are functional. The sunroof 'can' tilt, but the leftside angular jaw is snapped. Cables are intact. I have been meaning to fix it but time just hasn't been on my side...
-A/C has recently been serviced, checked for leaks, and converted to R134A (still wicked cold) by Classic Motorcar in Branford, CT. They only do work on classic Mercedes-Benz's.
-Transmission was rebuilt by neurotic uncle at 170,000-ish miles, reverse is quick and upshifts are smooth.
-I have been chasing down the vac leaks in the system, and have most of it down; currently hunting down some final rubber components on the top end; I'm not trustful of myself enough to change the 8 intake grommets though.
-'New' (as in 5 ish years) center and rear muffler.
-European headlamps I installed with functional leveling and citylights.
-I blacked out the grill insert the other day.
-Rebuilt antenna installed last week (first time in 4 years I have radio, mind you)
-I am positive that the car has never had less than 2 layers of wax on it in over 8 years. I honestly wash it better than I clean myself, and I'm pretty well kempt.
-I am in the process of the orthopedic seat install; I need to run vac lines to the trunk pump and the front seats and get power to my ortho pump unit.
-Non factory wheels with nearly (under 2,000 miles) brand new BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires, also included are a set of snows that are probably on their last or second to last winter.
-Interior gets a 7-8/10. Uncle had new headliner installed, and the rear seats are perfect. front seats are old and could use refreshing, but now surface tears I can see other than one on the drivers bottom bolster (2 inches tops?)
-I routinely get 16 mpg mixed driving with the A/C on. On a 250 ish mile trip I took to school last year, I received 21 mpg
-She runs rich, but I have no clue how to change that, so be my guest if you wanna tell me/do it yourself!
-Front suspension is basically completely refreshed other than tie rods. Yes, even lower guide arms. Rear has also been checked for functionality by yours truly and works like a charm. Uncle said that it was worked on, but I don't have the receipt for it...
-Rear door checks are gone, front is fine as I had changed them before. I changed out the front regulators and the rear guides as preventative maintenance.
-Valve job done at 190,000? Like I said before, Uncle is neurotic. Perfect W140 owner (which he is now; still kicks himself when he sees my car).

I love this car more than any other material possession I own/ have access to, and would love to see it go to someone on this forum that can tinker with it like I had. On a 1/10 I give the car an overall 8/10. Despite mileage, I have no hesitation due to all the work done to say it can drive around the world easy.

I don't really have an asking price, but mostly want a 560SEC trade, or enough to get a light fixer upper 560SEC.

I have pics in my gallery, but will be more than glad to take any pics you guys want.

I think I covered my bases, but feel free to ask questions!

Thanks,

Carlen

Forgot to mention I'm in the process of saving up for an all out fluid change and tune up. I may be a relatively poor college student, but I NEVER cut corners on this car, and nothing other than OEM parts have been used.

So I've decided that a good asking price is $4000, but really can go to about 3500. I love this car, but I recently gained access at a 1981 500SE AMG, so quite motivated to sell!

Took a bunch just to even have a set in case of God knows what could happen to it: First bunch is the front fascia and hood.

Front quarter, passenger side and rear quarter. Also the roof. It certainly doesn't 'look' the 22X,000 mile part.

...And apparently a picture of my girlfriend resembles one of the other tires? Auto upload on my phone is a very strange animal. Unfortunately for me she is not included in the sale Anyone know how to remove that?

Also Interior bits: Rear seat is spotless, door cards are in good shape considering this is an outdoors car (Mom and dad's cars take precedence over my youngtimer.) Front seat is the worst conditioned interior bit. Also in pretty damn good shape for the age. Passenger seat is a bit better with no cracking etc.

Passenger seat, instrument cluster and a shot that gives a good clear shot of the new headliner and the dash cracks. To be honest, they bothered me much more when I first bought the car, but at this point I figure they're staying until I can afford the time and money to a good used dash and all the vac pods.

Any other shots you guys want, they're all yours. I had a full inspection done at the stealership last summer (essentially a PPI but wayyyy afterwards) and they could only muster I needed new rear springs because they're rusty? And my front guide rods were shot, which I had replaced.

Does the girl come with the car or is she an optional extra?

The upkeep on the 560 looks like a dream compared to the high maintenance, finicky nature of the girl. Although if you're up for it, this low-mileage, Pennsylvania bred sorority girl can be included for the right price/ my own peace of mind

Fair warning though, she wreaks havoc on the interior with food constantly. I vacuumed out cheetos that were hiding under the passenger seat from the last time we drove together Oh the things I've found...
