1987 300TD Wagon

1987 300TD Wagon, White with Palomino leather interior. Approx 206,000 miles. Purchased new in 1987 by my Grandfather from Prestige MB in New Jersey. Always been in the family and always serviced by MB with the exception of the last few years. Car is currently in Phoenix, AZ. The car has a few spots of rust starting on the rear wheel arches. Some goods include: 2 new tires, A/C was converted to R-134a by the MB dealer and blows cold, CD player (also includes the original Becker radio), roof rack cross bars, fully belly pans still intact, no accidents or paintwork. The engine still runs the -14 head with no issues. A few items to be addressed: the trans recently started dripping. I cleaned the area and noted the drip at the torque converter (visible through the access area on the bottom of the trans.), the right hand rear window has a short in the wiring. I purchased a new switch (at the console) but it pops the fuse when the switch is plugged in and the power antenna does not extend or retract. It runs but no movement of the mast.

The wagon is a third car for us. Now that I work 6 miles from home, I can't justify the third vehicle costs even with the family history. She has always been reliable and a real pleasure to drive. Asking $5,500. Thanks, Christian

Nice looking car and with an interesting history. Good luck selling. I like the sneak peek of the 356 in the last shot too! Fine taste in automobiles.

Nice. will be gone fast. White "civilian" wagons hard to find. Most were dealer "service" wagons.

Thanks for the encouragement. She's a great car and I know I will regret the decision at one point but such is life. Do you guys have any suggestions for additional websites to list her on? Peachparts has always been my one stop shopping for the forum and parts orders. Thanks, Christian

When was the SLS last serviced? Front and rear end rubber bits? Records? Any ticking noises from the head?

What differentiates a dealer service wagon from a civilian one?

Sorry for the thread hi-jack but free bump nonetheless!

no difference....just most of the white wagons were used by dealers as a service vehicle instead of going to the retail lot....

white is just the prefered company car color, for any company...so white wagons were usually used for road service cars. either by MB policy or most likely dealers kept any white wagons they got in to use as their service cars and sell the colored cars on the retail lot.

So most white wagons have more wear & tear on the cosmetics. Where was the last time you saw a company car treated nicely by the employees? You ever see gov surplus vehicles?

So, to find a white wagon that was not a former MB dealer service vehicle is a bit unusual.

Have you ever driven a "GSA"/gov vehicle

Basically they get the poop beat out of them.

I have an '87 White TD Wagon. I pulled a CF when I bought it and it's never been owned commercially- hence why I asked.

Sorry for the thread hijack. Free Bump!!
