FS: 1970 280SE W108 Super clean w/ bad motor (or possibly part out)

FOR SALE 1970 280 SE acquired from original owner (a relative)

Sadly, no time for this project, so it needs to go

87,xxx original miles, in storage since 1988

Current clean CA title through December 2011

Head gasket leak during storage has rusted and seized one cylinder, hence the "bad motor"

Was running perfectly when stored, with all maintenance done regularly up until that time.

Dark blue with black leather interior, interior is absolutely mint other than some varnish peeling of the wood trim (no cracks)

Absolutely no rust, vehicle is complete and original, including radio.

$2500 or REASONABLE offers, located near Long Beach, CA

Also entertaining parting this out, but the hassles aren't too appetizing. Maybe those who need parts can let me know if there is any worthwhile interest in any specific item(s) and what your price range(s) is/are

Wow

Beautiful car. Good luck with the ad.

If it ran at all, I would be thinking long and hard... but I'm way too far away for non-runner transport purposes.

If you part it out, I would be interested in the headrests, the chrome shifter cover and the plastic light cover in the driver's side footwell. Thanks.

What he said

Parting that would be crime.

Put it on eBay if you must. But someone must have a motor in a rusty w108....

I have a friend out here with several motors. Granted they are 3,000 miles apart, I may be able to talk him into selling a motor. This isn't a 3.5 is it?

Would you entertain the idea of shipping the car?

It is a 2.8 I-6 vehicle

Shipping would be no problem, it is easily loadable right now in an industrial area around 15 miles south of Los Angeles. (Obviously needs to be pushed or winched since it won't start).

Thanks Zacharias and mblovr, I really think it would be the sickest, most horrible thing ever to part this out, especially with the number of parts that would end up being damaged or thrown in the trash, as well as the carcass afterwards. Plus I'd be dealing with dirty lowballers for months, which I really don't care for. Trust me, they have been flocking like hungry vultures with their 10 bucks in hand....lame!

I've been sitting on this thing for a year and a half and have decided that I just don't have the time to fix it (running a shop plus full time graduate school doctoral program). It is also just taking up space and is also going to go to hell from dry rot if I don't do something with it soon. (Then I'd have to part it and throw it away for sure)

Ok, if anyone has any need for any parts from this car, let me know. If there is decent interest I am going to part this out.

Just PM me the part you want and the price you would like to pay and we will go from there. I'll also start another thread in the parts classifieds for convenience and since that's where any further solicitation should be...

Parts will ship from Los Angeles area FYI

I will take 1900 for the car complete, so if anyone is interested in that let me know too

Oh my...

If I had the 2500-2600 it would take (if not more) to get the car and get it home to the Philly region I would buy this in a heartbeat as I have a motor that could be dropped in...

But the e28 and my current w108 eat up much of the fun money at the moment...

I should buy this and put the recently rebuilt 2.8 from my w114 in it and part the 114 out.

Tempting.
