1971 Mercedes 300 SEL Euro model
1971 Mercedes 300 SEL Euro model
This car is a Grey market 1971 300 SEL with the 3.5 L fuel injected V8. Its a fairly complete European spec model . Sunroof, air bag suspension etc. To my knowledge it was imported from Germany to New York in the '90, by a Swiss Air pilot, made its way to Indiana and then to Charlotte. -the body suffers from the usual rust . The rockers, trunk side boxes, lower rear fenders, the front fenders all need repair or replacement -The motor runs well . It has 110,000 kilometers on the odometer but it stopped working so who knows -fresh oil change with new oil filter using Castrol motor oil -freshly rebuilt front calipers with new rubber and metal lines in the front, new pads on all four wheels, new rubber and metal brake lines on left rear , new seals in the LR caliper -New fuel pump and filter, gas tank flushed out. -new Bosch coil resistor -Auto Transmission shifts fine -Air ride suspension is fully functional although it leaks down when parked. some times front or ear doesn't leak down making for interesting poses. -Sunroof and all four power windows are in good functioning order although they could use a lubricating. -the interior in in reasonably good condition considering it age. Leather seats have obvious tears , door panels are nice, the carpets are in good condition, the dash is excellent with no cracks either on the pad or wood, all wood trim is present although some of it need repair due to de-laminating on the edges., older Blaupunkt radio, nice steering wheel with minimal cracking on the left side and a good horn pad. -all exterior trim is present and in fairly good condition -all glass is in good condition -includes original wheel chocks and tool roll This car is being sold as a ambitious restoration project or parts car. Currently registered and has a clear North Carolina title in my name. $2000.00 firm as is PM me for more detailed pictures Last edited by BRM; 10-24-2011 at 08:56 AM. |

Trade possible?!My 62 220seb111.014 for your 72 300sel3.5!
My 1962 220seb. Interior needs replacement. Original car. Runs like a world class 40 yard dash runner. Needs professional restoration. This one even has the two horns(extra horn was an option. My 4 year old son inspired me to get the old beast going and he was by my side through the whole frustrating, happy, difficult, rewarding, confussing. I threw the extra s In there because fussing escorted the project as well. The mrs. didnt seem to like the time and currency devoted to the stinky old black "race car" as my son calls it. I think the fins , the 411 geared rear end, and the rusty exhaust pipe have him convinced of this. My heavy foot at strategic times have made a few sedans "race cars" My daily driver is an Eldorado although its a coupe no doubt. Anyway, When I purchased car, it had all manuals, servive history, etc. and they were in mint condition. Car was parked since 1991 because little old lady said she couldnt afford to fix the fuel injection that a local mechanic told her was messed up. Dont know what he was refering to being wrong with fuel injection because after three cleanings of the fuel tank , a new fuel pump(elec.) , and fuel filter, and a shot of ether, the blackbeast roared to life and actually idled very smoothly. Odo. Is showing 67k and it and the tripometer work. As a matter of fact, everything including lights work on it.. Has horse painted with stutgart badge mounted on the grill. Automatic tranny that is strong as an ox. I do believe it is the Hydrak 4 spd. Auto that can be jump started by towing with it in gear I presume. My goodness. I guess I should have at least seen if you were interested in trading before I went on that extensive ramble! Nonetheless My son thinks a trade for the green mercedes would be the thing to do because the seats in ours are "broken" as Joshua calls dry rotting leather, im sorry, rotten. This vehicle is responsible for making my son a benz lover and me abetter dad

KKMFG.COM has floor pans , trunk floor and spare tire well pans. 'THEY DON'T HAVE' rockers. Mercedes may still be able to get them. I would price out the items to save this car before jumping in. It may be more expensive than it is worth....

I was considering this one but I Thank you for the info. I was also looking at a 67 coupe that needs a bit of rust work too.. I didn't know that panels were available as in rockers.. It would save me a bit of Fab time..

well,
I will probably be parting this car out, the transmission started to slip in low gear yesterday. I am open to offers for the car whole, otherwise I will just drive it until the trans completely dies and part it. |
