FS: 1997 C280 w/extras $3500 (Portland, OR)
For Sale:
------------------------ 1997 Mercedes C280 4-door sedan 5-speed automatic 722.6xx transmission 2.8L M104 inline 6cyl 194hp/199ft-lbs! Leather seats Bose premium sound system 140K miles Clean title Well-maintained Extras: ------------------------ Yakima roof rack with locking posts Bentley Publishers Repair Manual GoPoint GoLink OBDII Diagnostic Cable (for iPhone) Brand-new never used tire chains Recent work in the last 10K miles: ------------------------ New serpentine belt New battery New Goodyear Eagle GT high-performance all-season tires New spark plugs Rebuilt headliner New front brake pads and rotors Regular oil changes with Mobile-1 0W-40 Known flaws: ------------------------ (1) The paint is a little rough, clear coat worn in some areas. There are some minor chips and dings (nothing serious). (2) The interior shows some wear. Some smaller plastic trim pieces are sun-baked and cracked. The carpets could use a thorough cleaning. The driver's seat has some wear. (3) The A/C compressor will need to be replaced if you desire A/C. The A/C system worked flawlessly until about May, when the compressor finally gave up. (4) The stereo unit and one speaker (driver's rear door) will need to be replaced. (5) The child-lock switch for the rear windows is broken. (6) The driver's side mirror is slightly damaged, but completely functional. If you are a perfectionist, it will need a little work. (7) Rear brake squeal under some conditions. Pads and rotors still have life left, will inspect and report back (probably just needs some anti-squeal paste) (8) Noticed a cracked tie-rod end boot while replacing front brakes. Ball joint has no play (yet). Positives: ----------------------- (1) Mechanically very good condition. Engine is strong (very powerful!), and transmission is flawless. There are no leaks, and the engine does not use oil between changes. The steering is tight and the brakes are good. Come drive it and see for yourself! (2) Body is straight, clean and rust-free. (3) The headliner was just re-covered. It had become detached from its backing and was quite ugly. This is a common problem on this model, and it is quite expensive to have fixed. Have many pictures. Will post pictures of interior and exterior later today. Car is located in Portland, OR. I would much prefer to deal with someone who can come look at the car before they buy.

If it used to live in Arizona and it's wdbha28e1vf481732 then it could be Hans, my old car. This makes me very nostalgic for my w202. It was my first merc and an exact clone of yours. Someone on here should buy this, these are good cars.

BTW, if anyone has a few carfaxes left and wants to run that number, feel free. I'd be curious to know what comes up. I will consider partial (or, in an exceptional case, full) trade for the right 1985 300SD.

I have an 84 300sd, so I completely understand wanting a 617. Those engines are bloody bombproof. I like bringing a 617 alive with a good rehab and some healthy modifications. They can actually make some non slothful power when you don't care about fuel economy.

Will sell for $3K minus the roof rack, the diagnostic cable, and the tire chains. Repair manual still goes with it.

will entertain offers
I'm willing to take reasonable offers if anyone is interested. It is a good car, but it is not a diesel. I would prefer to drive a diesel W126, that's why I'm selling.
