X2. I respect the reality of the situation, but it would have been nice if there had been a window of more than a couple hours for people to jump in and save the car. I'm assuming your wife didn't just start hating it yesterday, so maybe you could have offered this up before it became so urgent?

This for sale ad has offended me on a deep level.

Ever wonder why the parts for a fintail are so expensive? It's because a bunch of fools scrapped their fintails rather than put some honest effort into them.

Crushing a finny for scrap is like burning a litter of puppies alive because you couldn't find homes for them. Honestly! what was it costing you to keep the finny on your patch of dirt until it sold? If your wife was the only reason you scrapped an irreplaceable classic Mercedes Benz I would strongly advise scrapping your wife instead of the car. True, a divorce costs more than you earned by scrapping the car but New Wives are minted every day. The same cannot be said for a w110.

A bhuddist Mercedes enthusiast (if such a thing exists) would almost certainly say to you, "may you live in interesting times."

I am speechless

Hi

I will make this short and to the point.
My first two attemps were more elaborate, but got deleted.

I agree with others, that more time and effort would have been appropriate.

Given it's on the east coast I could not do anything, even
IF THRE CAR IS STILL SITTING AT THE SCRAP YARD.

The car was easily worth $1500 in parts and a couple of hours invested.

Lets do the math: $1000 difference and maybe 5 hours (for argument's sake) = $200 per hour.
Not a whole lot of people make that kind of money .

I know , that I don't.

And, no offense, but I know, why I am not married...nag nag nag.

Merry Xmas to her, and the husband who let's her !!!

And that was on my birthday, too.
Now , if you'll excuse me, I am going do be sick !!

Oohh, and since the poster does not have any more Mercedes now, ...how about this ??...

@ Jive Turkey

Hi

I love, what you wrote in your post.
I did a similar post, and let him and his wife have 'it'.
This will bother me for a while, even though I am 3000 miles away !
I am glad there is still people like you out there !

Thanks from a fellow Mercedes enthousiast !

That's why I sold my fintai;l for cheap-- I wanted to get it to an enthusiast's home.
Even Grandpa came out to watch it loaded on the trailer and haul it back to the homestead!

That's what I wanted for my cars-- and I got it.

Did I make money? No.
Did I lose? Maybe.

You can't make money on everything you do. Some profit is non-financial. Even the money-grubbing bonus-hunting Finance weenies out there recognize the economic value of " good will" and "reputation"
