Advice

We still have the car! I've reduced it on craig's list to 695.00
I hate to see it go to the smasher, since the body and interior
still look good. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

You know, headgaskets crap out, heck heads crap out, pretty regular on OHC engines. Granted one expects a little more from Mercedes, but I'm never surprised by the number of OHC motors I see that need a valve job @150K, let alone the gasket. Just food for thought..

That evaporator though.. ugh..

Arrow Reasons to SAVE it!

I love "The Red Plum", (seen above) -- it is also a 1995 w124, and the AC blows cold and the wiring harness was replaced, I think it is more simply and sturdily built than the w212 I have just bought. Tom W. recently rode in it around San Francisco with me and i think he would agree that in good shape, these are sensational and iconic cars!!

I hope some one buys the car and saves it. They are some of the best looking efforts of Bruno Sacco, the designer, and so well built they are to this day campaigned as taxicabs all over the 3rd world, I even saw a few in Germany (Stuttgart and elsewhere) this year.

They are believed by man to be the very best and last examples of the E class cars that are built to a cost no object standard of build quality, thus providing the ability to run to interstellar mileage (if properly maintained), are relatively easy to work on, and all parts for them are always available.

I'm still of the opinion that sending a W124 to the smasher is quite a sin given the relative garbage that is called "production automobiles" these days. Yea, they be more modern, but that's about it.

She's gonna need LOTS of money from reading the description. For some crazy people like me who are seriously "Benz Broke," it's worth it.
