Repriced - 87 300D SF Bay Area $1900
I reviewed the market research basis of the [revised] earlier thread, which I can't close or delete, and adjusted the price.
It's time. Executive summary - looks like a veteran, fights like a veteran. 1987 Mercedes 300D, diamond blue over gray leather, 263K miles (replacement E320 odo reads 71K). One family Dallas car from new to 205K miles in July 2007, mine in San Jose area since. No rust. #14 head passes residual pressure test. AC blows cold. Recent AutoCheck report available. Cons: - Exhaust smoke under boost. Looks like a turbo seal allows oil into the compressor. Pictures show several weeks of soot over the left tail light. - Messy oil leaks from front crank seal and IP. No driveway spots yet even with encapsulation panels off. - Clear coat peeling to peeled from horizontal surfaces. Looks worse than in pictures. - Transmission shifts from 2 to 3 to 4 almost instantaneously under light throttle. No flaring. - I flubbed adjusting the sunroof when replacing a broken lifter because many slider pads are broken. It slides and tilts with the liner off, doesn't work properly with the liner on. Some wind noise at speed but no rain leaks into the cabin. - No power to passenger seat headrest motor. Headrest can be adjusted by hand. - Cruise intermittent. When it works, it surges to 10% above set speed. Set at 59 if you want to go 65. - Telescoping wheel intermittent. Doesn't adjust with driver seat memory. - ACC recirc flap disconnected from actuators; recirc button works but doesn't effect recirc mode. Requires dash removal to reattach. - Multiple chips in windshield. Mods: - EGR and ARV on sabbatical. - Transmission modulator bypassed. Doesn't shift better or worse. - Leather seats from '91 300E. - Gasser economy/boost gauge. - Afterglow relay with engine temp sensor. - CD player. I have the original Becker without a code. IIRC it's the kind that has to be reset by the dealer. Original harness cut and Becker speaker connectors discarded. Maintenance highlights under my watch: - Later style vacuum pump. - Delo 400 every 3300 miles. - Bilstein comforts. - Steering linkage. Repriced - asking $2400 as is with Hella Euro headlights and CLK wheels, $1900 with DOT headlights and 15" wheels. For a change, it's mine Sixto 87 300D |
