I have owned this 1987 300 SDL since May 2005. When I bought it in Carson City, Nevada, it had 191,xxx miles on it. Today it has 317,xxx miles. It is in Twin Falls, Idaho.

This has been my daily driver since 2005. The oil has been changed every 3,000 to 4,000 miles. Its at about 24 mpg most of the time. It gets around 20 mpg at high speed.

I drive it on long road trips several times a year. 2500 mile round trips are common for me. It is still a comfortable and safe car. The tires are recent with around 80% tread. The A/C is cold and the heater works just fine.

It starts, runs, and drives great, but the interior and paint (clearcoat) are showing its age and wear. It has a decent Kenwood stereo with a USB cable in the glove box. There is a 4gb thumb drive on it with 900 songs.

It has a few shopping cart dents, and one line of rust at the right tail light. That is the only rust. There is a split in the front passenger seat, and the dash has 2 small cracks. The center posts between the doors have the trim coming off.

Last month, the left rear tire threw its tread and damaged the plastic molding under the rear door and on the lower quarter panel.

The power steering system has a slow leak. The front main seal leaks. The rear main seal was replaced when the transmission was replaced.

Dec 2011: At 311,xxx replaced 3 shocks, brake discs and pads, & front wheel bearings. 4th shock replaced in May 2012.

Feb 2011: Replaced the transmission at 298,xxx with a used one from a 124 that had about 175,xxx miles on it. Swapping the tailpiece from the original allowed the 124 transmission to work properly. No problems since.

Dec 2010: Replaced sandblasted windshield at 295,xxx.
Mar 2009: Replaced tie rod ends at 261,xxx.
Nov 2008: Rebuilt turbo at 255,xxx.


I have replaced a lot of items fairly recently. I want $2000 for this '87 300 SDL. I'm glad to answer any questions. I have more photos, just ask.

I sold the car.

In less than 30 days the new owner had totaled it. His wife was T-boned by a teen at 60mph.

The car saved her life.
