Real Bragging Rights - 1952 170VA WAGON

I cannot find any reference to this particular wagon:

The drip rails, rear glass and wrap arround stainless are unique.

Runs, drives, needs head gasket.

Total restoration or flashy two tone paint.

99% complete with minimal rust.

Northern Virginia.

Piced to sell.

Hearse would have wrap arround glass and open at the back?

yes sir?

Those pictures are a far cry from what I have posted.

Mine has solid rear doors so you can't look in.

The rear doors are solid, I think its a fire truck or delivery wagon.

a sedan delivery or panel truck would lack the side windows. The wooden floor boards though do not look much like a hearse.!?

if the side windows look added then maybe a delivery truck.

The rear windows are factory as I have the stainless interior and exterior frames for both sides.

The original color combination was blue (everywhere) with black rear fenders and running boards.

Hearses are traditionally black?

I stand corrected. More like a delivery van. Eitherway, this wagon looks amazing specially when fully restored!

Thats more like it,....

This example seems to have rear bumper and front door chrome window molding, mine doesn't.

I have a trip counter within the dash instruments. My drip rail package is slightly different.

As mentioned before I have the 2" stainless wrap around.

Getting closer, thanks for helping.

Maybe closer: LUEG auf dem 2.Platz! | Beitrag | Mercedes-Benz Oldtimer-Newsticker

Or the Krankenwagen about halfway down the page: Flickr: The Mercedes-Benz 170 Pool

This link says 35 were built in '52: Mercedes-Benz 170 V Kastenwagen 0,75 t 1946

Or contact these guys: LUEG Classic, Service, Restaurierung, Verkauf, Oldtimer, Youngtimer

I'd tend to lean towards a hearse based on the doors and the glass, but I couldn't find a pic or a reference for something like that.

Yak,

Thanks for the links.

The first link is really close in comparison.

Kundendienstwagen = customer service car

1950 and 1951 left the Daimler-Benz AG , the business case or vans, today would be 'station wagons' to say the very special companies which supplied the bare chassis with appropriate setups. However, the one built in 1952, a small series of 35 copies of the 170 Va and 170 Da to Van with a load capacity of 0.5 tonnes which have been exclusively used by the factory customer service as mobile workshops and spare parts couriers in all of Europe. Here is an original car from the factory museum.
