Feeler: Value of 1977 300D w 7k miles??

My girlfriend's father bought a 1977 W123 300D that had undergone a recent dealership restoration. The mileage on the car was at 7,000 miles. He just doesn't drive the car which is a shame. I wanted to know how much some of the folks here would value such a fine car. I will see if I can find the photos that I saved.

Update!!

I wasn't getting the full story. The chassis has 107k miles. The car has only seen 7k miles since the full restoration. Still a good car, but not the astoundingly low mileage gem I first thought.

It's a car not a science experiment! Open the throttle!

restored cars do not have the same value as original cars do so the restoration -while I'm sure it added value- only serves to make the car "nicer". Now the value is strictly based on the condition of the car. A 300D with over 100K miles even in the silly price land of CA can't be worth much more than 7K IMHO if indeed the car is nearly perfect.

Did they roll the odometer back to 7,000? As far as I am concerned that makes the car TMU, true miles unknown. Maybe the balljoints and the brakes have 7,000 miles on them, but that really does not warrant the car being represented as a 7,000 mile "car."

How nice is it? Is the paint new? Is it well done? Post some pics.

"restoration" is a pretty loose term. How in-depth was it? did the paint get redone? Did the engine and/or tranny get rebuilt? pictures would be great. Since its a non-turbo and its restoration... id say 8.5-12K... but this still highly depends on the quality and thoroughness of the resto

There was a W116 300SD with 9k actual miles for sale last year, I don't remember the price but it was surely over $20k and worth it.

Yep. When the Mega lottery comes my way first thing I'm gonna do is fly out to JG's in LA and buy up his inventory!

no kidding...looks like JG does awesome work! I was bidding against him one time on Ebay for an 1985 300dt Mercedes Motoring - 1984 300D Turbo Diesel Sedan and he won with a high bid at $9000 I believe. I am not sure what kind of work he had to put into it but I think it resold somewhere in the mid $20k range.
