What type of seats are those? Did you have to do any fabrication to get them to fit?

Seats
The seats are from a 1996 Acura Integra GSR.
to put them in I had to: 1. Remove MB seat base from seat, keep the forward/rearward sliders attached to the base. 2. Remove sliders from Acura seats, and cut off mounting brackets (they get in the way of the MB sliders) 3. Weld strip of metal along base of Acura seats, one on each side. Just tack welded. This makes them wide enough for the MB seat base. 4. Measure forward/rearward location so you have proper seat articulation for everyone. Mark on MB seat base with sharpie. 5. Line up seats so they are straight/plumb/flush etc in all directions 6. Weld Acura seats to MB base using the strips previously installed on Acura seats. I just tack welded many times along each side. (Make sure you protect the cloth on the seats from sparks) There are more little details, but that's the basic process. The Acura seats are about 3.5" lower in the car. I always scraped my mohawk on the headliner, so it's nice to have the extra headroom If you don't want it lower, you can put large washers on the mounting bolts in the floor. I'm tall and skinny and my favorite seats by far are honda seats. Firm, yet comfortable on long road trips. I got mine out of a junked car for $50, and found a large 22mm wrench under the seat as a bonus. Oh, and the swap shaved 15lbs off each seat as well. If I could have found a set of miata seats in good shape, I would have considered those too. So, want to buy my car? |
