MUST SELL THIS WEEK!!! MAKE AN OFFER!!!

1981 300SD - 281,000 miles. I've been trying to sell this on craigslist for a few weeks. I've met some interesting characters and have heard a lot of excuses on why they couldn't close the deal. I've used the forum in the past for help in fixing the car and figured I would post here and give it a shot.

The good: Has new rotors, calipers, pads and hoses on all 4 wheels. Two new front wheel bearings. Tires are approx. two years old they have less than 4,000 miles on them. Engine runs great. No blow-by. Transmission works good.

The bad: The car is not a $10,000 dollar garage queen. It has lived its entire life in the NYC area and was a daily driver for over 30 years. The seats have covers on them because they have some tears. The wood on the dash is crappy. There is no radio. The A/C does not work. The minimum it needs is a condensor that was removed in the 1990s after what looks like some damage to the front. The heat works good. The paint is ok, looks good from 10 feet after a fresh wax.

The ugly: It has some rust on it. The rear quarters have rust, and the jack points underneath are the worst areas.

Why did I buy it? I work at a school and we started a alternative fuels club. I saw this for sale cheap and bought it figuring that the students could be introduced to diesel engines and see how it worked. I also planned that we could use it as a test car when we made our bio diesel in the chemistry lab. I fixed it up enough to pass NYS inspection, and drove it to school 10 miles round trip for the year. We worked slow and never got to test the bio diesel in it. I then received a grant for a diesel generator and have used it to test our bio diesel. I have had the car stored for the year and am losing the space. IT NEEDS TO GO THIS WEEK. Does it run ad drive. Yes. Can you test drive it? Yes in the parking lot. Would I drive it home 2,000 miles? I would probably tow it that far. Come and look at it and make me an offer. It's in zip code 10308.
