My brother is the 2nd owner of this 1999 Mercedes E300 Turbo Diesel. Originally purchased in Memphis it then moved to Alabama with original owner where he bought it in May 2005 and brought it home to Florida. It has been in TN again for about 3 years. The car is in great shape, low miles (165,900) and great color combination. Has the Bose stereo system with Muti-Disc CD Changer in the trunk (still works but sometimes has issues). It also has an XM Radio installed which will stay with it, service has been de-activated for a while. When I bought it, I had the windows tinted and they look great! Also has ASR and Side Air Bags (I believe).
Recent service history (since Jan 2012):
- (4) New Pirelli P6 Four Seasons Tires @ 155k
- New Battery
- New Front and Rear Brake Pads and Rotors
- New Thermostat
- New Left Rear Window Regulator
- Recent Oil Change (~1000 miles ago) with synthetic oil
- Just replaced differential oil/fluid (~1000 miles ago) with 75w90 synthetic oil
- Replaced all Injector By-pass line
- Charged A/C freon (Blows Cold!- Also hot heat for the upcoming winter)
- Replaced both front lower ball joints (~50 miles ago)
Other Service History (prior to 1/2012):
- Replaced all Glow Plugs
- Replaced Alternator
- Replaced A/C Blower Motor and Resistor (A/C blows cold)
Please make Note: The car iteself has 165k miles on it but we replaced the motor in January (at 154k) due to a bad cylinder head (Yes, the dreaded GP sticking issue which damaged the head). It was cheaper to replace the entire motor than buy a new head (and had no luck finding a used one). The replacement motor had 173k miles on it so it currently has about 183k miles on the motor. The motor runs great and we've put 11k miles on it since January. Absolutely NO problems with this and I could've not mentioned it and no one would've known but I want to be honest! The person who we bought the motor from said the motor mounts were fairly new at the time.
Transmission shifts crisp and precisely as it should 100%
Paint and body are in very good shape for the age and mileage. Paint is all original. There are several stone chips on the front hood from highway traveling. Threre are 2 painted plastic runners on the roof of the car that run front to rear which the paint is peeling off. The star emblem on the trunk lid was broken off- needs replacing (bought one on Ebay and waiting on it to arrive). There are some light scuffs on the rear bumper from a slow speed rear end accident that occurred in Georiga shortly after my brothers' purchase- we filed a police report which is shown on the autocheck/carfax record as an accident. I can assure you there was NO other damage other than these scuffs and they weren't worth repainting the bumper! There are also 2-3 stone chips in the windshield that were there when my brother purchased the car- they haven't spread any in 7+ years so it shouldn't be a big concern.
Interior is nice. No rips in MB tex seats. Dash is NOT cracked (was actually replaced by dealer thru warranty under ownership of original owner). Only draw-back is the headliner is sagging in the rear and starting to sag up front. There are some stains in the felt/carpeted material on the front dash area and door panels- not sure how to clean these up? Other than this, the interior is really nice for a 13 year old car.
-Southern car its entire life so NO rust issues. I took a picture of the RF spring perch and also one of one of the new ball joints. Can get more when I have time.
-All new parts mentioned above!
-Doesn't leak any oil (the only car in our stable that can claim this!)
-Has factory(?) protective rubber floor mats and original owner purchased a rubber trunk mat (which shows wear but the carpet is clean!)
-Everything electrical/mechanical works (i.e. windows, sunroof, cruise, a/c, etc...)
Cons: (very minor)
-Rock chips on hood and windshield as mentioned above
-Headliner sagging as mentioned above
-The backlight on the climate control doesn't work (so at night you need to turn the overhead light on to change any settings if needed)...Possible bulb?
-Remote keyless is a little stubborn (have to push button 3-4 times at times before it locks/unlocks)
-DS mirror glass got damaged somehow (doesn't affect the auto-dim it just looks a little bad. Mirror is NOT broken!
-Wheels show typical wear (fading on a couple, peeling finish, and expected scuffs/scratches/etc.). We just replaced 2 center caps and the other 2 need replacing too which I have on hand.
-The 2 encapsulation panels underneath the car are missing. I found a source for a New Genuine Mercedes pan for the front for $82.00 + shipping but can't find a source for the rear pan.
-Currently needs a new bulb for the RF parking light (which will show as a message on the error display- that's all it's saying. There are no other check lights on currently.
-Paint peeling on the plastic runners on the roof as mentioned above in description.
-Black plastic cowl cover/trim has whetherd a bit and is cracked. Shouldn't cost too much to find a used one and replace it.
-**Autocheck records that we pulled up in June 2010 states "Reported registered/titled prior to stor event in FEMA designated storm area. We recommend a professional vehicle inspection to confirm no storm damage" in Alabama a couple months before my brother purchased it. The car shows absolutely '0' ZERO evidence of being in any sort of flood. I will run a recent report and send it to any interested individual(s). AutoCheck score at the time was an '84'
^^Again, most of the cons listed above are really being nit-picky but I want to disclose everything.
I'm going to post some photos below against better judgement. They are terrible!!! I took them today at almost dark and wouldn't normally post them but knew I wouldn't get another chance until at least Wednesday. So these will have to do for now.
Asking $7,500 but will negotiate with any serious buyer who is also reasonable. My brother has a clear Tennessee title in his name ready to sign over.
If anyone has any questions, comments or what-have-ya's please PM or post here. But please don't post any negative comments on my thread! It's against forum rules/policies!
