This 420SEL is being offered for sale by the private party owner of an automotive restoration shop. Several years ago at 75,000 miles he bought the car from a customer and thoroughly reconditioned it for his own use. It is being sold to help fund a new car purchase.

Built in February 1989, the car has had three owners and the current original mileage is 82,871. It is finished in Astral Silver Metallic with classic grey leather interior. It has an optional electric sunroof and dark blue floor mats. It has been a non-smokers car since new (also no pets) so the passenger compartment has no unusual odors. The air conditioning blows ice cold and the glass has a light tint. It comes with the original manuals, tools, window sticker, etc.

The reconditioning at 75,000 miles included but was not limited to:

Full repaint with front and rear glass out,
New windshield due to sandblasting,
Hand-painted blue pinstripe,
Alloy wheels refinished,
New Yokohama Avid TRZ tires including spare,
Rebuilt engine from Adsit,
Rebuilt transmission and torque converter,
New ceramic brake pads and rotors,
New Euro headlamps (original USA headlamps included),

This car is an elegant, affordable and versatile daily driver that looks great in any setting.

Very nice looking car, but...

A well cared for low miles W126 needed a new engine and transmission at 75K miles and a repaint??? There might be remaining warranty on the engine and transmission but good luck getting any customer service from Adsit. Fresh mechanicals are a plus but folks generally prefer matching numbers. I suppose that's a good dilema.

Not standard on the US 420SEL but not listed as standard equipment later in ad. I don't see seat heater switches in this car. I doubt a car without seat heaters has ASR. I'm too lazy to check EPC

It sounds like excellent value for the money so long as the repaint is NOT due because of rust and rot, and on the east coast, for a 1989 car that is a big issue right there.

I have just bought a 1967 Mercury Cougar that lived its whole life on the California West Coast, no more than 50 miles from San Jose CA, the last 21 years stored inside a warehouse, and the entire paint, including the factory painted pinstriping, is factory, and looks virtually new.

Just 39k on the clock.

But compared to a 1989 420SEL it is like a horse and buggy by comparison.
It has rear leaf springs and shackles,for instance - how crude is THAT?
