Recently looked at a 97 e420 with 55,000 miles on it and I now have the itch for something similar. If you have something like this, or have a lead your willing to share please let me know!
Heres what I am looking for:

• e420, e430, c43, e55, something AMG
• 97+
• under 100k miles
• no rusts (especially the w210's)
• if its the e420(which is what im leaning towards), id like the plastic oiler tubes to have been replaced.
• Looking to spend $3500-$7000 (also have a 2006 civic if anyone would be interested)
• Ideal color would be something dark, not white or silver.
• I live in central Ohio, and would like to travel less than 250 miles.

May consider something newer and less v8 like, but am looking for a good driver that is faster than my 1.8l civic.

I dont believe that in the price range you will find any AMG models with under 100,000. You may find a E420 though, they are scarce around here as I've been looking for one to purchase for my brother.

There are a multitude of E420's around here, but unfortunately being in the salt belt they have almost all had significant amounts of rust(even the 55k mile one I drove, it also had the infamous engine tick from plastic oiler tubes) Ive seen a few AMG CLK's 1999-2000's that come very close to this range, but I am shooting for a 4-door.

I say look for one of the early 430 CLKs. Probably the only two-door to ever turn my head. Looks great, and with the 8 I am certain will meet most needs for speed.

I would look for a nice 400E. It's older than you want, BUT the w124 has superior rust protection. And it's plenty fast! I STILL miss mine

Watch out tho.. the m119 will start to gulp gas real quick if you stomp on it a lot.

Have seen some excellent 400E's on the west coast for 5k and under. Not happening under 100k, but these are still Mercedes, so.

Lots of E420's for less then $5k in Dallas TX. They are fun cars and I've had one for about 10 years (sold and bought it back once). I now also have an 02 E55 but I rarely drive it as my old friend is still great to drive.
