For Sale: '79 240D - $2500 (Columbia, MO)

For sale is my 1979 240D. I've had this car for a little over a year but now I need to sell - my wife won't drive my diesels and it doesn't fit our three kids very well. I bought the car in St. Louis in November 2011 from a guy who drove it here from California (still had the Cali plates on it when I bought it). Here is the link I posted for feedback when I was thinking of buying it: Need your eyes . . .

There is a link to pictures there and some of the discussion raised at that time. The odometer wasn't working when I bought it - the PO said it stopped working right before he drove it to MO, but then he parked it when he got here and didn't drive it much before selling it to me. If true, the mileage is somewhere in the neighborhood of 200K. I did fix the odometer, so it is working now and the odometer currently reads 197,250.

Other questions raised at the time concerned paint/body work. I can confirm that a couple panels have been resprayed - you can tell in the right light. However, I don't see evidence of serious bodywork. The dash was replaced by the previous owner - there is a cover laid over it now that protects it from the sun.

Most recently I have replaced the rear brake lines. The rear driver's side caliper was stuck when I bought it and I didn't realize it so I have now replaced the caliper, rotor and pads (pads on both sides). I have also replaced the rear sway bar links and a door strike plate. I plan on replacing the front tires since they are pretty well worn.

The car does leak a little oil and I have had to add a quart or two between oil changes. This has been my daily driver since I bought it - but I only drive it about 10 miles a day back and forth to work. I've kept it garaged since buying it.

My asking price is the same as I bought it for - $2500. I will even throw in an additional set of injectors and a pop tester (I will try to add a picture of these as well).

If you have questions, just ask. Thanks.
