1982 240D China Blue (and others)

Hey Guys-

I have a 1982 China Blue, Blue MBtex interior 240D manual. I need to sell it. I have ten cars and am a bit overwhelmed. I have owned four 240d cars and a number of 300d but just sold out and bought a 2003 c240 wagon. I would like to get $2500.

I bought China Blue from the original owner four years ago. It was my daily driver until 3 months ago. I drove it 60 miles a day. The interior is almost perfect. The seats don't have a mark on them and the dash is perfect. Still has the original Becker Europa stereo (looks good and works but it’s not a stereophile's dream). Has new clutch slave and master cylinder, had some suspension work and drives tight. I've put Bilstein HDs on it. Brand new set of Michelin x-radials with less than 1000 miles. No real rust, a few bubble spots and such but no rot.

It burns some oil but not tragic at all. The kicker is that it has 367,000 miles. It sounds like salesman puffery but I swear it looks like 150,000 miles. The interior looks amazing as does the body. I don't park it in the garage but the original owner did for its first 25 years.

I’m at work so I can’t post any pictures but will get some. Reply or send me a message. I'm kind of a horse trader at heart so think about trades too. At present, I would take about $2500 or maybe trade for a 4x4 pickup but that’s about all.

Also, I have a factory (not a rebuild but a factory badged) 240 engine that has 150,000 miles on it. I bought it because I thought that I would keep China blue forever. The woman who had the car that it came from had paid ~$5500 for the engine. I have $1000 in it so can’t bargain any on it.

Additionally,

1) I have a 1981 BMW 320is: 5-speed, LSD, factory basket weave rims, recaro seats, Alpinweiss (white), 175,000 miles, no rust. Tires look great but have more years than miles on them. This car is a great car for someone just starting out as it’s easy to work on and loads of fun. Great for a teenage driver as it looks cool as all get out, but is also solid and dependable. It’s a shame how little it gets driven. Drove last week and it was stalling when cold. Maybe gas. I’ll get to the bottom of it. It’s about a $3500 car but would take offers or again consider a trade.

2) 1988 Volvo 240 Wagon. 125,000 miles, maroon, with tan interior. Believe it or not, the seats have no tears. It does have some busted plastic pieces but dash is perfect. Michelin harmonys with less than 5000 on them. No rust. Scuff and dent on driver’s side fender. Great dependable workhorse. $2500.

Thanks, Phil
