1992 500E "Daily Driver" located in Calabasas, California
1992 500E "Daily Driver" located in Calabasas, California.
Link to Craigslist ad: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/cto/3709149015.html Link to more photos: 1992 500e - Imgur Ad copy (cut & paste): - - - - - - - - - - If you are looking at this ad, then you already know about this relatively rare & wonderful car that was a result of a unique Mercedes/Porsche joint venture. If you are seeking a "Perfect Looking" 500E with flawless paint, (so you can stare at it & admire it in your driveway), then this is not the car for you. However, if you are seeking a "Perfect Running" 500E to enjoy DRIVING it (which is what 500E's are all about!) then this IS the car for you - because it is mechanically flawless, and drives wonderfully. I am an absolute fanatic about the maintenance & mechanical integrity of my cars. Conversely, I don't really care very much about the "looks" of my cars. This car is absolutely mechanically perfect, but the clear coat on the hood, roof, and trunk has deteriorated and become cloudy. That pretty much sums it all up. Some background information: All 500E's have certain idiosyncrasies or "problem areas" that can be expensive to fix, but once those issues are addressed, these cars are ready to go for many, many more years. Those items include: 1.) The original engine wiring harness. (originally built with "biodegradable" wiring insulation which decayed due to heat) 2.) The electronic throttle valve/body. (same wiring material) 3.) The original radiator. (They crack at the upper hose mount, while new ones are reinforced.) 4.) The tandem hydraulic pump for the self-leveling rear suspension & power steering. This car has already had ALL of those items replaced. This car has also had a comprehensive high-quality valve job, including new valves, timing chain, chain rails & hydraulic tensioner. The transmission has been completely overhauled by a MBZ transmission specialist. All "consumables" such as the water pump, belts, hoses, ignition wires, caps & rotors, engine mounts, etc. are all fresh. All my cars receive only the highest quality synthetic fluids & OEM filters - all changed more often than recommended. This car has 211,000 miles on it. It has "Pearl Black" paint, and a gray leather interior. It also has 17 inch AMG monoblock wheels. The audio system has been upgraded to an Alpine head unit with MB Quart speakers (or Rainbows?) driven by a Phoenix Gold amplifier with discrete crossovers and added sub woofer. The interior is in good condition - the leather seats have no tears or excessive wear, and the headliner & dashboard are excellent. The center console woodwork has some surface cracking, and the steering wheel shows signs of wear. I have too many cars, and I am moving & losing storage space -- this is the ONLY reason I'm selling several of my cars. If you want to re-spray the hood, roof, and trunk panels, you will have a fantastic driving AND good looking 500e for a great price! (If you don't want to re-spray it, just enjoy it as it is!)

Now if I can only figure out why the craigslist ad is NOT showing up in searches, but the ad IS there when the direct link is used. Bizarre...

Craigslist "ghosted" my ad because it was too long or something else triggered their filters.
I cut it down, made it seem like it was written by an ESL student, and - voila! Now it shows up in searches. I updated the link in the original post to the new URL.
