82 240D with stick and bad motor

This is "pancakes" which I bought from TheDon (Joe). It has a nearly rustfree body with a solid floor pan. The drivers seat is good except for the backrest which has a hole in the usual spot. I have a good passanger seat which can be adapted if you are willing to switch the covers.

It is a stick with no sunroof. It has the original aluminum wheels with the wheel covers and four pretty good tires.

I have extra parts which I will let go for it including front end parts plus a grill.

I'll sell it for what I gave Joe

$950

and I lose the cost of fetching it from florida.

I am going to have my indie run a compression test to see if we can figure what is wrong with the 240 motor.

If it were five speed I would have put it in large letters. It does have the aluminum wheels though I am pretty sure.

It runs but sounds like only on two cylinders. I have asked my indie to run a compression test. I expect to have the results of that soon.

Are you the fellow who bought the gasser engine from me?

What sort of pictures would you like to see?

Tom, I was the one who bought the 'spare" engine for my Mango Green 280E. Looking for some overall body condition shots of your 240D. How is the paint?

I thought so. This car is not as shiny as your green one! The paint i believe is original. There is a little rust on the edge of the back fender at the very bottom which appears to be from rock impacts. I did not find any other rust to speak of, hence my plan to swap my mechanicals from the 240/300 into it. The paint is faded.

At the moment with Randy Leo's wagon with five speed joining the fleet this project seems unneccessary.

We checked compression yesterday and found zero in #1. Valves appear to be working and massive blowby so it appears it must be a holed or cracked piston.

I have asked for the motor to be removed. I will have my favorite machinist o through it so will either keep it after that or put it back on the block, but for now this car is no longer available as described above.

240 D alloy wheels are worth upwards of $100 a piece to 113 owners.

IF they are the wide versions- if they are the narrow versions the value is about 1/4 of the wide ones. Seller are trying to get obscene money but who know if they get it? Wider rims have a solid white stripe, narrow ones have the dashed line.
