I will say....and I can't believe I'm saying this....that I think I prefer the 95 E300D to the 90-93 300D. But I could never part with my 91 and my 92....the combination of condition, investment, and sentimental attachment is too strong!

If I ever come across a perfect condition low miles example I'm not sure I could resist....

It would have to be a getaway car...I am doubtful on the honeymoon part. I bamboozled her into a w123 a year or so ago. She loves the two Mercedes we have but is not to keen on adding another until after......the baby making process is started and finished.....

Got AC up and running....blows ice cold. So that's good. But, aux fans not working, so that's not good. Using AC fine on highway, but not in stop and go. Priced at $3700 now, taking these recent discoveries into account.

You should give fixing the aux fans a try. It could be a relay or switch issue as opposed to the fans themselves. FYI, I paid $3850 for my 91 300D with 240k on it and a new front end.

I doubt it. I disconnected the lead which is supposed to make both fans come on high and nothing happened. Plus neither fan turned freely...I had to break them loose, and even now one of them is still a bit tight.

I think only one of my fans is working right now..It comes on and off every 2 or 3 seconds...then it might run for 5 minutes then not at all..Its always pulsating on and off. I think the other one is dead. My a/c only works under light throttle and rarely at a standstill...If I dip into the throttle the slightest bit while cruising the freeway at 75-80 the a/c blows warm...man this cars just full of to-do's

My fans are the same way. The one will kick on and off at seemingly random intervals. The other doesnt do squat.

I wonder if your klima relay is bad. If the relay sense a difference between comrpessor clutch speed and engine rpm it will shutdown the a/c. Its logic is..if there is a difference, the a/c compressor might be seizing and we can't have that cuz it will damage the belt..

Now that the AC is up and running are you sufficiently tempted?

bump from page 2

Not my ideal color combo or body style, but this is a decent car. Would be willing to inspect, evaluate+report on for out-of-state buyers.
