FS 1995 E300D Black/Grey Providence

I'm putting up my E300D for sale earlier than I wanted to because of the wonderful low miles 190E I was able to acquire. Craigslist ad is here http://providence.craigslist.org/cto/3992126869.html.
I worded the ad with the Craigslist universe in mind....but you guys may have particular questions; feel free to ask.

I'm trying to price it at the high end of the reasonable range, FWIW.

Do you guys think my $3800 is at the high end of the reasonable range? Of course I realize that asking this question is akin to asking the fox to watch the hen house!

I think it's a fair price for that car and one of the best written Craigslist ads I must say.

Agree. Nice ad. And with working air you could recoup your repair cost and then some. Unless of course it's the dreaded evaporator. GLWS. Probably my next vehicle but not for a couple years. Ever any issues with it running hot in the summer, stuck in big city traffic? Suppose not without the air on...

No rust (other than some spots here and there inside the engine compartment).

Don't know anything about bad plug....other than that it was working fine off and on and then finally stopped working.

No issues running hot....it will climb to slightly over 100C in certain situations, but no higher.

Well, since you asked.....there was a 1995 E300 here locally a few weeks ago; 186K miles / one-owner / clean Carfax / pristine condition - NO RUST / EVERYTHING worked on it too ~ for as I recall the same price you're asking. It sold inside of 72 hours.

Now, this isn't to say your's is at the high end of the reasonable range, but it is to say that there was at least one comparable car that was in far better condition (mechanically and other,) with far fewer miles, for the same money ~ here in DFW, Texas.

That's good to know. There have been a couple of other examples up here....sold pretty quickly....that have made me wonder. Nice one in Hartford, everything worked, 157k miles, for $5,000. Another one near Boston, 205k miles, no AC, for $2800 (that was a steal....sold in 48 hours).

I have no pressing need to sell mine quickly, so I'm happy to price it a little higher. But I don't want it to be unreasonably high.

Market pricing, or whatever you can get for it in a reasonable amount of time is always riding in my mind. I think you've got a good/valid price on it. The 1995 E300 I reported on above? I think it was rather underpriced. Just my 0.02.

I turned down $11,900.00 twice, for my old '99 E300 w/125K miles ~ two years ago June 2011. The month before, my indy tried to coax me into selling it to him for $5K +/-. He asked me; "if I knew what these cars were bringing?" I told him; "yes, I turned down $11,900.00 for it last month." He realized he wasn't going to steal it from me.

Knowing what you can get for your car in any given market is a delicate matter to consider. When I sold my good condition (everything working) '83 300SD with 305K miles on it, I priced it at what I thought the high-end was at the time. It sold in two weekends, with a FS sign in it's windows for full-asking: $4,950.00 in 1999. Some friends (car ppl) later told me I left $1K on-the-table, but with 300K on it, I thought I was pricing it a tad high.

last year one came fs here....i think it was a 1993 260k original owner car.....listed for $2600 obo and it sold in 15 minutes. by the time i called it was gone to the first guy who called. you should be able to sell it but the economy is making it tough to get a decent price on things in a timely fashion.
