FS: 2005 E320CDI Blue 169,000 miles $10,000* ($9000 without AMGs) Wichita, KS

I recently upped my inventory at the dealership to about 20 cars, many of which would make great short term drivers for me while I recondition them to be retail ready. I also have a total of 6 personal cars, way too many for me at this time in my life.

I purchased this CDI private party with the intentions of keeping it as my daily driver. I cannot think of a better vehicle to suit my desire to have a fast, comfortable, fun to drive car that gets great fuel economy. I was so committed to keeping this one, I had it tagged and insured outside of my business. So this is a private party sale, I believe I am owner number 3.

The previous owner bought this vehicle from a Mercedes dealer out of Tulsa. Even though it had a little over 100,000 miles, they found it worthy of reconditioning and retailing; part of its retail ready preparation included a transmission fluid change. The previous owner replaced the lower ball joints and new tires, replaced the ESP control module, and serviced it at proper intervals all at the dealer. I had her local Mercedes dealer service it and do their PPI prior to my purchase at 165,000 miles. It had no needs at the time.

Just 2 short hours after purchasing the vehicle, I was hit in the back right quarter, damaging the quarter panel, bumper, and tail light. Coincidentally it was damaged in the same area that it had a "minor accident" according to the vehicle history report with the first owner. The damage was minor enough for me to drive it home without issue, averaging 42MPG. There was no frame damage, airbags deployed or anything serious. Damage was nowhere near bad enough for it to merit a salvage title. Still a 100% clean Kansas title. For a perfect, like new repair, the bumper and quarter should have been replaced, but I chose to save some money and salvage the existing components. It looks great, but is gap between the bumper and quarter is not 100% perfect. Only a real nit picker would notice. Otherwise great body and paint, just very minor imperfections (some stone chips, small surfaces scratches) you would expect out of a 169,000 mile car.

The interior is clean and in nice shape, but the rear seat has 4 small cuts in the MB-tex. I have photographed them. Everything electrical works with the car, with the exception of the passenger front head rest, which is missing the switch button.

I have since put 4,000 miles on it and the only repair I've made is replace one glow plug. Since having the body damage repaired I have a SOS warning message (Mercedes version of Onstar) that I have to push one button to cancel every time I start the car. I investigated the issue and found the SOS was disconnected from the antenna, the splitter so it can share the antenna with the radio is missing. I ordered one from Mercedes and it turned out to be the wrong part. I have gone any further than this.

Firm price on the car is $10,000 with the AMG wheels and $9000 with stock wheels. Without the AMG wheels I'm only wanting $1000 more than what I was seeing them sell for in salvage pool back when I was real hot and heavy to find one of these for a cheap price. I don't think you'll find a better deal. Very reluctant sale.

Jim got in touch with me at 12:39. Listed at 12:21...

To be honest, though, he was waiting in the wings for one after missing on the gray CDI and I emailed him when I listed this one.

Wish I had 10 of them. Not easy to get for a good price. I bid on a 116,000 mile example recently that was a 1 owner but needed some work... I bid at what I thought was a very high number and it still looks like I lost out.

I predict you'll love it. The upgrade from every MB diesel I've owned is nothing short of amazing.

I'm going to let it go.

I have two "If you ever want to sell it..." offers to plod through before I open it up to the public.

The E300 is a very nice car. I enjoy it quite a bit. I just returned from a 900 mile trip to PA in the E300. Averaged 33.6, including 120 miles driving around the hilly Allentown area.

But, 40+ mpg, and the power of the turbo is a siren's song hard to resist.

Jim,
The CDI excels in mpg @ HWY speed. That's where it shines.

I always followed-up on the; "if you ever want to sell requests too." That's a nice courtesy to anyone that was complimenting your choice of car in the past.
