I am looking on one 1985 300SE and wondering if any general pro or cons on this model....Thanks mike

MB didn't offer a 300SE in the 1985 model year. Maybe in 1986 outside the US. Not in the US until the 1988 model year. Maybe it's a 380SE?

A wise choice. The early M103 isn't my favorite engine. Valve guides and head gasket are weak points. The 300SE has short gearing for the M103 to pull the weight so the engine is always revving. It's a pleasant sound but it does nothing for mpg. In my case, my '91 300SE got something like 16/21 where the same driving got 15/22 in my '95 S420. The 300SE won't keep up with a Lexus ES300; trust me. Brian Carlton was working on a 300SEL with taller gears and first gear start. That should make it more palatable. The 126 is a fabulous body and IIRC the '89 has the interior facelift. Very comfortable and the comfort lasts longer than, say, a pre-86 126.
