Surprised you haven't sold that. Because the gold? Condition looks great.

That's the only thing I can figure. The wagon is in great shape. Maybe the time of year as well. Oh well. Its fun to drive and reliable so I'll keep putting miles on it until it does sell. Our kids love riding in the third row. They think it's cool watching everyone.

Gold/Champagne

I actually like the color. It's just like the '85 wagon my dad had and I grew up with. Same color in/out and has the 3rd row with rear headrests. I'd be all over that if I had the $$, in fact if I had $$ I'd probably be in deep trouble buying too many cars

It's a sweet looking car and really hope you sell it to someone who'll take care of it as you have. It's good to know though that the price will hopefully scare away all the potential veggie buyers (meaning DON'T sell it to someone who wants to use veg in it, PLEASE!!!)

bump

I had to repost as someone kept flagging it.

1984 Mercedes Benz 300TD wagon turbo diesel

Currently has right around 182K miles on it. I've owned it a little over a year. I use it as a daily driver. My wife is German (immigrated in 1982) and her Dad is a w123 fanatic. He has owned 20 or so beautiful 300D's and 300TD's since my wife and I met in high school. He bought this wagon from CA in early 2012. He buys cars and enjoys them for a while then sells them or offers them to family. He is very picky (typical German... ) and this one is as nice as any he has owned.

When I bought the car from him I rebuild the self leveling pump, lever and replaced the hydraulic hoses under the hood. SLS works perfectly. The alternator failed shortly there after from a bad bearing and I installed the high current Saab version that is the common upgrade (120 A I believe). Has new glow plugs as well. Starts perfectly every time with one glow cycle even in the teen that we have had recently.

The seats (front/rear/third row) are some of the best I have ever sat in. They may be OEM recovers but I don't think so. Seats are firm and not bouncy. Has almost new tires (May 2013). I did install new glow plugs when we bought it just as peace of mind. The dash is a cover/cap/overlay. It was done well but my Father in law never cared for it. Looks fine to me. I need to install the center flap vacuum pod. Blows out of the defrost some when dash vents are selected. I have the pod. Just need to do it. Transmission shifts great. Third is a little firm but has given me no issues in 7k miles. Rear wipers/delay work. Rear defrost works. Needs a drivers side window switch. The radio does not work. I was considering upgrading to a newer head unit but some die hard Benz collectors/enthusiasts love original. Clock in dash cluster does not work. A/C works. original R12 as far as I know. Worked great through the 100++F Texas summer this year and I drove it almost every day. I have never opened the sun roof. Father in law said it may need the front sunroof seal replaced. It hasn't leaked on me so I haven't worried about it. The car drives straight and true with a tiny bit of play right in the middle of the steering range. Barely noticeable. Drives as solid as my '91 350SDL but you can tell the wagon is a lighter chassis. The wagon is quite peppy for a w123. Father in law said he had the throttle linkages adjusted at a independent Benz shop in Austin, TX. I just know it runs great. Shifts great. Is a pleasure to drive. Has a small dent/crease on the drivers side rear quarter right above the rear bumper that you can see in the 5th picture of the Craigslist add. The hood is shifted slightly on the passengers side and it rubs the cowl slightly. F-I-L said he had the hood hinge repaired on that side because it had an issue. I don't think they lined it up right when the fixed the hinge. if you want full size pics of everything I'd be happy to forward them to you.

Now with all of that why are we selling it? My wife has always wanted a 300TD wagon. It's what she grew up with and it has been an awesome trip down memory lane in an awesome Mercedes. In reality we live in the country on a dirt road on a farm and we could really use another farm truck and I need to fix/update some of our hay baling equipment as we are expanding our hay cutting business.

Don't let that panic you though. I'm not your typical redneck hack working on a classic old Benz. I'm an engineering technician in the semiconductor industry and working on very expensive, precise, delicate equipment is what I do for a living.

I can vouch for Shane, he really knows his stuff. He is a nice and honest guy. I haven't seen the wagon in person, but knowing how he was in prior dealings I am sure that it is as he says. Shane, wish you would hurry up and get this thing sold. I am truly regretting selling my wagon.
