1975 220D

My Dad is interested in selling his 72 220D. He is up in Jax. FL. Please do not contact me unless you are seriously interested as I will have to contact him and then put you both together to meet up and see the car.

The car is in great shape for the age and is only missing a few "little" things. One of those things is the front door storage pockets. At some point, the car also received a re-paint in the original color.

There are no dents or rust that I am aware of and all the trim inside and out is immaculate as it was garage kept for many years. This car belonged to one of my teachers in elementary school back in the 70's. She was the original owner. So, I am a little familiar with the car.

I had to pull these pictures off line and post them for him as his health is declining. I am trying to get some more info. as far as mileage and a price. The price will reflect the condition.

This car sat for many years and was just recently brought back up to where it could be driven daily again. The York A/C has been repaired and works as well.

I don't think it is a 1975. In 1973, the did away with the triangular vent windows in the front doors, so it has to be 1973 or older. Also, I believe the bumpers on a 1975 would have been the massive 5 mph bumpers.

My 1987 300TD wagon was sold and my 2003 W210 E320 wagon was totaled (sheds tear).

Yeah, 73 at the latest. Pretty car too. Despite the borderline antique look those things drive as well or better than a W123 in my opinion. Great cars.

Far as I know the car is a 75. I'm working on getting a "real price"... Please bare with me here. If you have ever had a family member with Dementia, it is a nightmare. I will work on getting a hold of him tomorrow. It is not easy. I am working on getting power of attorney so I can handle his affairs as well.

I will be up in Jax. over Christmas. I will get some better pictures while I am there.

I actually wanted the car. But, I have no room in my garage for it and my time is pretty limited right now. It is a real shame to see such a well preserved car sit outside.

What condition are the windshield seals and floorboards in? I see that the front floormats appear to be removed. Was this due to a water leak?

No earlier than 70, no later than 72.

70 was first year for amber rear turn lenses, and 73 had a urethane steering wheel, not the hard plastic wheel shown. With the radio speaker pictured, I'm inclined to think it's toward the 70 end of range, 71 and later had a disintegrating speaker cover, not hard plastic.

I don't know about the speaker cover but I would have said my 72 had one like this...could be mine was actually a 71 model I suppose. Mine was manual steer with no ac, ordered new by a farmer over near Logansport I always thought.

OK.... I just got off the phone with him. Here is the deal, he is fighting getting rid of it. But, he realizes that it needs to go. I have been around these cars a long time (all of my life and I'm 45 years old). I know what they go for and I know what these old ones are worth.

He wants $4500 OBO for it. I reasoned with him and told him it would be VERY difficult to get that figure. He is open to negotiation and I am willing to go to bat for anyone that is "serious" about buying the car. He understands now that it needs to go...

Again, any interested parties please contact me via PM so I can give you my phone #. Then we can talk about the situation and then I can put you in contact with him.

I will get some better pictures up after I get back home from Christmas if it is still available. I'll get pictures of fender corners, door bottoms, seats, dash, trunk undercarriage, etc...

My uncle is an A/C tech. In some of the photos above, the car was over at his house getting a cleaning and getting the A/C repaired. That is also why there is a thermometer gauge stuck in the A/C vent.

The front carpets were removed for cleaning. There is NO RUST in this car. The floor boards and trunk literally look like new. I honestly cannot remember the condition of the gaskets. It seems like one of them looked newer than the other. I'll be sure to get a picture of that too.

FWIW... He has been driving the car a couple times a week.

Other than diesel stuff and mine having had power windows, it's almost exactly like my 73 w114 with regard to the steering wheel and lights.

If it's truly rust free and driving well I suspect there is a buyer for it at closer to your Fathers asking price than you might think. Nice car, sorry about your Father.
