1991 350SD Turbo for sale

I'm selling my project car. The first intention was to fix the car, then sell it to my uncle as a daily driver. Well in the meantime, he found an 86 300SDL that he bought and now is no longer interested in this one.

I bought it off the original owner after she had a minor front-end accident. She assured me she had it towed home after the accident, and it was only driven less than a mile total since the accident (leaking radiator).

I also asked her if she had -any- engine problems and she said none whatsoever. She said it does not use any oil between oil changes as well. I honestly don't belive she had any reason to lie to me at this point. At that time, the oil was about 2000 miles old and was 3/4 way between min and max on the dipstick.

When I took delivery of the car (after being towed to my home from over 100 miles away) the first thing I did was thoroughly clean the interior. It is in excellent shape with no rips in any of the seats, but there are some surface scratches on the rear seat. As far as I can tell, everything works. All windows, sunroof, AC, radio, climate control.

On the outside, its is a rare Teal Green color. It has been repainted once. It has some scratches and a few dings, but nothing horrible. The rear bumper is scuffed on the corners and has a crack in the center of it, not really noticable but thought I should mention it.

Mechanically this is what I did to it:

New Behr radiator
New fan & fan clutch
New water pump
New thermostat
New fan shroud
New belt tensioner dampner
Used grille
New drivers side headlight bezel

All parts German OE, no knock-offs.

I have driven the car about 20 miles and can say it really runs 100%. This thing MOVES for a diesel. Quite a bit faster than my 300SDL (3.0L 6cyl). Trans engauges quickly in drive and reverse and shifts good. No white or blue smoke of any kind, just a little diesel smoke when you get on the throttle. No oil in the water or vice-versa.

I took alot of pictures of it,

The day I bought it: http://www.zemkowski.com/91350sd/

Work in progress: http://www.zemkowski.com/91350sd-2/

Most recent pictures (before headlight bezel): http://www.zemkowski.com/91350sd-3/

As you can see, it was a pretty light hit, nothing got out of whack except the center pipe that goes from the top of the radiator support to the bottom, the original grill got cracked and the hood is very *slightly* bent up on the passenger side corner (about 1/4").

The condensor was pushed into the radiator, and the radiator was pushed into the fan and power steering pump pulley, breaking the radiator.

The air conditioning works fine, amazingly the condensor was not damaged at all.

She has almost 205K miles right now, I do have alot of time and money into it but want to see it goto a good home, I am looking to get $7500 FIRM. No negotiations.

Any questions welcomed and encouraged as are inspections and test drives.

Please email me: zemkowski@comcast.net or call me anytime (908) 755-2525 or my cell (908) 451-4332.

turbodiesel,

I know you wouldn't deliberately attempt to mislead any of us, but why are the pictures of the odometer on the day you bought the car (260,000k mi) different than similar photos taken while the work was being done (204,000k mi)?

The 260,000 mile shot is of my 87 300SDL. If you look at the details, the clusters are slightly different. For example, the 300SDL says "antilock" while the 350SD says "(ABS)". Also the needeles are much more orange on the 350SD.

Am I overpriced or what? Give me some feedback.

Perhaps I am being "overly honest" about the car, telling you more bad stuff than good.

I'm just trying to be thorough so there are no suprises (like I have had to deal with on other cars I looked at).

We are mostly cheap, and we know about the 3.5-liter engine issues.

If I were you, EBay would be the place to sell the car.

turbodiesel:

Just two things come to my mind:

1. Try to get that hood fixed.

2. Drive the car on a long trip and then tell peole about your experience (oil consumption, etc).

If I were interested, these would be the two thing I would ask.

turbodiesel,

Your best bet will be to find someone who is unaware of the OM603.97's self-destructive nature. There is too much general knowledge here. I agree with the eBay suggestion. Good luck!

Any engine that has gone 205K cannot be called self destructive.....two things...1)not everyone had problems with this engine and 2) where are you going to find a 90's era S-class for $7500?
I think the price is very fair...but as someone said I think this group is steered more towards 80's cars that can be fixed at home.....but realistically I think the 126 is the last S-class that that can be said about

seriously I don't think someone selling a 140 would do well here or a 210 for that matter.....so maybe elsewhere is your best bet

that being said I think $7500 is very reasonable...put an add in the star...I think the response will surprise you
