On top of needing driveway space, I have some doctor bills rolling in now (despite insurance) and not wanting to get into my savings to pay them - which I have, but want to recoup my money and put back into my savings

With that said, I will sacrifice for $2600 cash. FIRM! Yes it has some minor issues, but this is an absolute steal for a nice W140 with all records, excellent running car with an excellent interior. If it were a perfect car, it would be $8000+. If not worth $2600, I will sink it in the lake.

Yeah someone would definitely be getting a bargain. I am losing tons of money on it and I am not just foisting it off on someone because it has a few problems. I will never hear the end of it from my folks for selling it so cheap. A lot of my friends told me if it were theirs they wouldn't take a dime less than $3500, but unfortunately that hasn't happened. lol.

It does not have any major issues. I feel the check engine light is something simple, as is the A/C and radio issues. Someone that knows anything about Mercedes could get this car back up to tip-top shape easy. I wish I could have bought one like this for $2600.

Since no one interested in buying (I have had some local possible buyers - most are time wasters), I will consider trading for a rust free and good running 1984-85 300D / 1981-85 300SD / 1986-87 300SDL or 1985 500SEL if you deliver or course.

With that said, I will sell another one of my cars to free up the driveway space I need.

Someone has offered to trade a nice '99 E320, but I am not familiar with those and skeptical.

A 1999 E320 is the solid and stout M112 V6 motor. Incredibly reliable motors. Superior to the '97 M104 that was less smooth at idle, fuel efficient, wiring harnesses etc. Yields excellent fuel economy at 27-28MPG @ 70mph w/out AC on. No worry of wiring harness issues. The only issue on the M112 motor to watch out for is to see if the harmonic balance issue has been rectified.

Thanks for the info Jake. Sounds like one I need to consider. A car with better MPG is another objective of mine. I really prefer to sell to open up some driveway space as I plan on getting a brand new car within 4-8 months, but for now, I wouldn't mind having another older MB as a weekend car.

Well that person is no longer interested because my car has a code for an EGR vacuum leak. He knew that the CEL was on and was fine with it until I said it was for an EGR vacuum leak. Seems to me like it is the least worrisome thing a CEL could be, at least it isn't the converters or anything. lol.

Oh well, just another joke. Frankly, I am getting tired of the no-shows, time wasters and low-ballers. I mean if it isn't worth $2500, I will let it set in the driveway until it rots. Still driving it daily for now, but I need to start driving the other car I bought to replace it.

I may take it next week and have the CEL issue addressed and have the A/C checked, but of course the price will go up, then no one will still be interested. lol.

Reduced again... $2499.

Stick around, before long I will be paying someone to take it. I cannot believe no one wants this super nice W140 for practically nothing. I cannot even list it locally on Craigslist, the dang ad keeps getting flagged! I am basically over it and about ready to donate to a local charity - then I can let them give it away.

a couple years ago i had the same color combo w140 but with a six cyl in it (badged as a 500 at some point, of course) and i couldn't give it away either. decent miles, good condition.....after about 10 months i ended up trading it for a decent '72 280se.

Thanks Hog. I guess I will end up trading this one for something or trade it in on something better to suit my needs. It is a good car, not getting rid of because of anything major wrong, just no need for it anymore. I have actually offered it as a trade for several cars and people are like flat out, "no thanks". Would they have said that in 1993 when this car had the $82,000 sticker price on the window? I mean someone would have killed to own this car in 1993. LOL. Currently trying to trade even for a 2003 Lexus RX300 or trade IN on a 2004 Toyota Sequoia. He said they would give me $2600 for it, but probably raise the Toyota up $2000. lol. There was even a guy with a 1986 Ford Country Squire that was interested until I told him the A/C didn't work, now he doesn't even want to trade. lol. It is almost comical. I have tried advertising as a possible trade for an 80s Mercedes diesel, still no interest. Oh well, no love for the W140. lol. Local ads getting flagged, I guess they think since it is so cheap it is scam? Then one guy wanted to trade me his vehicle, but he wanted $3000 in cash as well. He sent me a link of a ragged out '93 400SEL with rust holes, terrible paint, holes in the seats, no service records, no indication that the evap had been replaced of the engine harness, etc that was up in Illinois for $1900 and said that is what my car was worth. lol. I am tired of dealing with the crazies. Funny though when I was looking for one, I couldn't find one under $4K.

I gave $3300 for it, paid another $500 to get it registered, put about 6000 miles on it, spent $400 in maintenance. So $4200 into it and I basically would like to get $2500 for it to recoup what I paid for the little Outback I just bought as a work car. Don't look like that will happen though. lol.

I did one learn valuable lesson though... I will never buy another W140.

I don't know about that. Now if you are willing to part with that '99 E320.

You got that right. Nothing like when I sold my little '84 190D. I sold that car for more than double what I paid for it within 2 days. Should have kept it.

Well there was a local S-Class W140 just listed for $1200 and it needs a transmission, so surely this one is worth $2499. If not, I will keep it. lol.

$2450 - giveaway price for a car that was once $82,160 that is still a super nice car.

I am losing big time on this car - my loss, someone elses gain. It is a shame actually. This car has had over $5000 in repairs over the last 4 years.

A lot of car for the $.
