I don't doubt it was a sad day for you today!!!!! However, it was a WONDERFUL day for me!!!! Thank you for selling me such a GREAT car!!! We made it home, no muss, no fuss. Then my son and I took it out tonight to get some goodies for it. It just wouldn't be right not to pamper it a little on its first night in a new home....
When researching my son's 1985 CUCV army pickup, we found out that the new low sulphur diesel fuels are pretty hard on the injector pumps, due to the lack of lubricity caused by the near absence of sulphur in the fuel. After much reading and a general lack of definitive consensus, we came up with a cocktail additive that has worked for his truck, that I think I'll try with this car. It's 4oz of tranny fluid, 4oz of 2-stroke oil, and 4oz of Diesel Kleene cetane booster, per 12 gallons of fuel. I figure if it doesn't help, it's not likely to hurt anything either. I forgot to ask you if you had been putting anything in it as a fuel additive. If you have, let me know and I'll continue using whatever you've been doing. I'm a firm believer in: "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!!!!
Let me tell all you guys out there that this car was EXACTLY as advertised!!! It needs a few odds and ends fixed, as stated, but everywhere you look there's tons of new or nearly new goodies peeping back at ya!!! Glide has done a fabulous job of maintaining this car. It has been looked after with tons of TLC since the day it left the factory 31 years ago. There's LOTS of documentation, and Glide was kind enough to walk this MB NOOB from stem to stern through this car, and teach me all he could in the short time we had. For the record, Glide is a Grade A, Number 1, Class act!!! If any of ya'll ever have the chance to deal with him, don't hesitate for one second!!! He is GOLDEN in my book!!!!
Glide, you know where this car will be parked, 9 hours/day, 6 days/week. If you don't stop in to say hi, anytime you're in the area, we'll BOTH (me and the car) are gonna be pissed off, for sure. Oh, and I also meant to ask, have ya'll ever Christened this car with a name? I'm a firm believer that changing a car's name is bad luck!!! So if he or she already has a name, let me know!!! If not, my wife has got a moniker to hang on it, but I won't go there til I know whether or not it's already been named.....
Thanks again Glide! I've got your number safely tucked away in case I have questions. And yes, you'll always have right of first refusal should I ever need to sell. I really do feel bad for you, cuz I'm sure you feel like you just lost a member of your family. But I hope it makes you feel just a bit better knowing that it's got a new family that loves it durn near as much as you did!!! That car and I BOTH hope to see you again, SOONEST!!!!
