Hi John,
Welcome aboard! Well if your serious about finding a 500E be patient. The first place I would suggest looking is in www.autotrader.com . I did a quick search and found several colors with mileage ranging from 44K miles to 120K miles. The second suggestion would be to get an account with carfax.com. (Make sure you get an account that doesn't limit the amount of VIN# searches you do) Before you seriously consider any cars start by checking the VIN# to determine if the car has been in an accident or if the mileage is correct. Carfax doesn't show everything, just because it says a car hasn't had an accident doesn't mean it hasn't had an accident. You need to remember that previous owners are wealthy enough to have the damage repaired without getting insurance companies involved. After checking that I would try to get the maintenance history on the car. Mercedes can print a list of repairs if you give them a VIN# but it won't show details so its up to you to be persistant and get all the info. Finally when you think you have found the right car you should have a pre purchase inspection done by someone you trust with mercedes backround. The inspection can tell you alot. For instance if you find that the car requires several major repairs it may have been neglected. This inspection can also determine if the car has had body damage as well. Hope this helps. Good Luck with your search. Afshin

Remember that CARFAX will only show if a car has been totalled and sold with a salvage/rebuilt title. It will not show any info on other accidents. CARFAX gets info from tag/title department and state inspection databases. For this reason, I do not put a lot of faith in CARFAX (besides the fact that they show a mileage discrepancy on my S600 that is incorrect... and say that their info is correct... when I have proof that it is incorrect). The dealer can only pull up warranty history, and a very limited description of the warranty history at that. They can't get any particulars about the repairs, only tell what the dealer said failed. The best way to determine if a car is good or not is a pre-purchase inspection at a knowledgeable shop.

I saw this ad in yesterday's paper and posted it in the Hot Rod section, which is where all the 500E / E500 heads hang out.
Saw a 500E for sale
