1982 380SL for sale
$4,000 for a 1982 380SL bought from MI, USA following an inspection by this forum’s Roy Hunter in 2008. Vehicle had 108,129 miles on it when we bought it and it has done a mere 6,000 miles since then. Currently registered in British Columbia and will deliver for a small fee to Bellingham or Seattle, WA if required in the US, or Calgary or Vancouver in Canada. Changing priorities and interests are driving the sale. We’ve spent a lot on mechanicals and cosmetics were next on the list when we decided to sell instead.
A great car to drive as is or a paint job would give you a fantastic looking vehicle. Body in general good shape and condition suggests it was never winter driven as the amount of salt they use in MI would destroy a W107 in short order. Plus these cars are suicidal in ice or snow ……. Always garaged or kept under a cover since we bought it. Starts, runs and drives well … engine run up to temperature monthly in winter, starts easily even when temperatures below freezing. Has hardtop (mint) and operational and waterproof but original soft top. Soft top should be on the new owner’s list to replace some day! Rims were replaced with MB 15” by the PO and we put good Nokian I-9’s on them. Heat works great, original Becker radio, original and operational original antenna. As well as the major items below – for which we have receipts – routine maintenance like fluid and filter changes has been done regularly. I’ve lost track of the vacuum parts I’ve replaced in the fast idle battle typical of these cars. Fast idle continues to be intermittent! I upgraded the headlamps to Hella H4 units which made a huge difference for night driving. I also had a 300SD, so all the MB specific maintenance like replacing the steering fluid filter or lubing the throttle linkage has been done regularly as well. Comes with the full shop manual set on CD & invoices for all professional work done. Notable maintenance work done by MB specialist shops (Motorwerks in MI, McNally in Toronto, ON and Janke in Vernon, BC) since we bought the vehicle follows. The cost of parts and labour for this work far exceeds the sale price we are asking. 2012: Tranny torque converter seal replaced as was leaking badly. Replaced rear main oil seal in engine as it was weeping slightly and vacuum modulator valve, transmission mounts, front flex disk and muffler mounts at same time. New horns, genuine Bosch! All four flexible brake hoses replaced and brake fluid replaced. 2010: replace O2 sensor, all belts, all sparkplugs 2011: front sway bar bushings replaced. 2009: install new bottom pads in seats; new front sub frame bushings. Replace rear springs. New front brake calipers, replace idle control relay 2008: replace parking brake pads; Bilstein shocks front and rear; replace left rear trailing arm, new battery, upgrade to twin timing chain using genuine MB parts, replace front brake rotors and pads, thermostat replace, fuel filter replace, trunk seal replace. Notable bad points - Original paint has dings etc. - Minor rust on rear valance under bumper – have new body parts to repair, included in sale - Occasional flare on 2-3 upshift on light throttle, has been the same for several years. Need spring kit? - A/C inop since purchase, have always meant to remove compressor to save weight. - Cruise control inop since purchase, never got around to fixing it - Usual dash cracks around temp sensor I've tried to be as honest as possible. Have full size images if you want to see more. Last edited by 300sdToronto; 07-02-2014 at 07:45 PM. Reason: price change |

sale pending
SALE PENDING FOR $4,100 ... significant interest from local Craigslist and Kijiji from both BC and WA buyers. About four or five people seriously interested and one guy's cheque clearing the bank as I write. I have a nasty feeling I left a couple of hundred bucks on the table
Unfortunately no response from this forum ... |
