1980 280TE Euro Wagon M110 AMG 4spd-Needs work-Atl, GA

Up for sale is a 1980 Mercedes Wagon 280TE Euro(Grey Market) W123 4- speed wagon. Car needs suspension work that I currently can't afford so my loss your gain maybe? The motor has been recently replaced. The original blew out and since I loved the car (it has been my daily driver for 6 years) I had a used AMG motor (with around 100,000miles) put in it and wanted to hold on to fix but now can't afford to put any more $$ into it. I'm hoping to get some of the $$ back I spent on the motor and will accept the best offer to help me get something else.

MORE PICTURES:

Here is what I know:
-This is a grey mkt car with euro bumpers etc.
-Car has been parked for 5 months-will need tow
- M110 AMG Engine with a little over 100,000 miles (have receipt)
-needs rear accumulators, ball joints, guide rod mount. Steering needs tightening
- Accelerator cable mount rotten and needs to be swapped out (have the new part)
--needs at least 2 new tires
- may need water hose or pump-something was going on with radiator right before I parked it
-Body--light yellow with olive green interior. in decent shape/very minimal rust. Paint ok, areas of clear crackling on hood, interior and headliner ok, driver seat has tear but springs ok. Has the cool original rear basket weave dog gate. Carpet has minor paint stains in back in some areas. Some cracks on dash.
-After market AC is installed but not working (needs new belt/wheel, was told a minor repair)
-driver side power window not working (may just need switch)
-radio works
-

Sad to part with it but would rather see it on the road than parked!

Please message here or email vikki@theopshoppe.com for more info and to schedule a time to look at car. It is currently in Grant Park near Turner Field in downtown Atlanta.

That olive green interrior is my favorite color. Good luck with your sale, sure is an interesting car, that's for sure.

willing to part with the AMG motor without the car?

interested to hear/see more about the engine. do you have AMG documentation/proof? do you have pics of the engine/engine bay? how noticeable was the different between the engines after you installed the AMG m110?

do you have an asking price with OBO? nothing is posted...

I just posted more picture here-sorry if some are sideways. I will try to get better pictures of floor etc tomorrow. Also black spots on paint are specks of dirt -I took a photo of the area of rust on the front right rear well.

Squabble-- I don't think I will part with just the motor. I had it put in to save my car! The mechanic says there is an AMG seal? Let me know where it is and I will take a photo. Sorry I am not super motor knowledgeable. All I know is he told me the motor was an AMG motor he pulled out of another newer wrecked benz that had 100,000 miles on it and that I got a good deal because he didn't realize it was an amg until he went to pull it.(and I paid for it)

The difference between the two motors was that the car ran after the motor was put in! I din't drive it long enough to really tell. I don't remember the suspension being quite so bad beforehand. I was on the freeway when the original non AMG motor blew. After I got the car back the car vibrated under in back once it hit 45-50. The mechanic likened it to putting an 18 yr old in a granny body? I didn't want to drive it and lose control. I probably would not have gotten the motor put in if I knew I would have all the suspension work to do right after in addition. :-(

Haha, someone posted a link to your CL ad in Diesel Discussion yesterday .

Is this an AMG car or a Euro car with an AMG motor?

Has it been repainted? I thought clear coats didn't start until after 1982.

Your correct, mercedes didn't use clear coats. They only used them on the expensive metallic paint jobs. All the others got enamel paint.
