Talking 1987 300TD $2975 firm

Located in San Antonio, Texas.

Mileage: odometer reads 295,494, but the actual mileage is closer to 230K since I had it switched out four years ago.

Why I am selling the car: I bought this car from my dad (actually this is his account on the forum) who has owned it since 2006. He has been working on this vehicle for most of the past eight years, relying heavily on this very forum for information and support. We have invoices to show about $4K in parts and services.

We both absolutely love this car and hate to see it go. However, I am not a mechanic and my dad says there's no more room in the driveway for a project car and he says the car needs to be driven and not sit idle.

Looks & drives great, no accidents, non-smoker, title in hand, very clean interior, well maintained. Replaced the dashboard and all of the AC pods. 3rd row seat. It's a tank! That's the good. The bad: sunroof inoperable (never investigated the actual culprit), cruise control does not engage, KLIMA unit needs to be replaced to keep AC unit working (have it bridged at this time).

All four tires new so you can hit the road today. As a bonus, throwing in extra driver's seat and a new hood pad.

Thanks for looking,
Natalia

nice looking wagon

Natalia,
I am interested in this wagon, but have a few questions.
Why is it sitting idle in the driveway, what makes it a project car?
I don't know what a KLIMA unit is. Could you explain?
Is AC working now? If not, would replacing the KLIMA unit have it working?
Does the heat work as it is now?
Since pods were replaced, and if the KLIMA unit were replaced, then AC will blow through center vents as it should. Correct?

I appreciate all the pics of the engine bay. It looks clean and well maintained. There usually aren't enough photos.
Do you feel it would make a drive to Louisville Ky. as it is now?
Thanks!
Bob

KLIMA controls the "on " /"off" of the compressor. In the past, I had bridged pins 5 and 7 to force the A/C to stay on whenever the car was running. New KLIMA units are pretty expensive. Also, sunroof never worked on this car. Given its age, the seal is cracked and letting water in during heavy rains. That's why I had it sitting idle under cover. You can PM me with any other questions.
Thank you for your kind words, Bob.

The White Wagon

That is a good looking wagon and it looks like it has a lot of miles left in it.

A Man of his word...

I am here to thank the seller for his forthright, honest and evenhanded manner when selling me this great example of the 1987 300TD. He even insisted on driving the car 70 miles to allow my mechanic to make the inspection.

Is she perfect, no, but she is everything that he said she would be. She ran flawlessly, purring all the way home as I made my way from San Antonio to Austin. New problem, where am I going to find space to store the spare parts that he threw into the back when I wasn't looking.

Let the work begin.

Congratulations!

Congratulations Lane,
Looks like you got a good car at a good deal! Sorry I was so far away and so wrapped up here, remodeling my kitchen/dining room, and under a deadline to be ready for a granite table top delivery.
Enjoy the journey!
Bob,
in Louisville Ky.
