Oh really? Pelican Parts appears to carry the part as well, for just a buck more.

Nice, it does seem to be available again. As of a few months ago it had been NLA for years.

Still for sale, anyone is welcome to come look at it, even with the high mileage its hard to find a 300sd this nice anymore. I feel bad that I'm eventually going to have to scrap it just to make room.to park another car when there really isn't anything wrong with this one .

I went and looked at this car last weekend after picking up my new 1985 190D from Dieselkraut. I can vouch for the condition and performance of this beast. Sounds and feels like new, interior and body are immaculate, engine compartment is super clean, lots of NEW parts! Cars like this are the reason the OM617 earned the title "million mile engine".

Hey!

I've seen your car on CL a few times, I can't help to ask why you're selling? 425k is a lot.

My mom had a 240D with over 450k. My uncle now has it and is really abusing it.. but before he got it i did replace the flex discs and other misc suspension parts.. including the shocks.. which had absolutely no resistance at all! lol

I love white mercedes. I think they look classy. Never had a w126 chassis. Though I test drove on before

I live in Vallejo.

A lot of older Mercedes diesels have had their odometers tampered with or replaced or just went unrepaired for long periods of time. So many of this eras cars showing say 250K miles are in reality much higher miles anyways.

If one buys a used Mercedes diesel from this far back. One should never take the indicated total miles on the odometer as gospel. Unless some form of records indicate it may be so.

I always have liked the few really low milage claimed ones that never seem to even have their original oil change booklet record in the dash.

All mine had the booklet and they were much higher miles than these claimed lower milage buggies. Even though records had ceased at the 125K mile mark or whatever. They seemed to be present and gave some indication of the earlier years milage profiles with the individual car.

I guess I would just like to have a car that has a working heater and a/c, and doesn't leave black oil spots on the ground where I park at work so they complain about me ruining their parking lot lol. I also don't really have room to have more than one car at a time, and I haven't ever owned a car that wasn't more a project than a good daily driver (although the others have had 1/4 to 1/2 the mileage of.the Mercedes and were all in quite a bit worse shape).
I also don't really.understand how to work on the Mercedes, I.have fixed a lot.of stuff that turned out fine, but there is a lot.of.stuff about it that I will never be able to learn, like how to get it to idle more.smoothly when its hot, etc.

I usually don't give much weight to low mileage alone when buying a car, because someone can completely ruin a car in 120k, then ask way more.for.it just because it has low mileage, like the 300sdl with 99k miles on CL right now for $4850 that doesn't mention until the end of the ad that it needs a new injection pump lol. I bought this one because it was the nicest one on Craigslist at the time, I obviously paid way too much though, because it doesn't seem to be worth even half what I paid, and its in far better shape now than it was then.

You are welcome to come look at the car if you like, I live in Vacaville, and I am usually home in the evening and at least part of the time most weekends.

Thanks! I may take you up on that offer.

W126 almost seems like a completely different car than w123, even though there are a lot of similarities.

I've been looking at some of your other posts, about that intermittent rough idle, Have you looked at the A/C compressor? I've seen a few diesel mercedes have the a/c compressor come loose ( or the rattling break the thread holes) and the result of it being loose is a very rough idle.. like you would think there is major engine damage with the car.

My mom's old 240d was doing it recently.. usually it stops when you have your foot on the accelerator. I've owned a few diesel mercedes, I haven't seen a lot of problems with idle or the I.P. Except om 0m603 and newer where the get an occasional leak from the DV.

I don't think its the a/c compressor, the engine actually rocks back and forth quite a bit. But most of the time it runs pretty smooth.
