Winter is upon us and its time to get some of the project cars done/stored away. I bought this 240D for myself as I've done tons of work on them for other people, work on my dads, and have parted out a lot of them, but have never owned a driver myself. I just do not have the time to finish this car so I am offering it up as is, but if I do fix it, the price will go up or I will decide to keep it.

The car starts, runs, and drives. When I got it from the previous owner it drove fine but had very little power. I looked at the linkage and it was not getting full throttle. I played with the linkage and now it gets full throttle, but at full throttle the transmission flares. It did not flare when I bought it. At partial throttle it does not flare. I assume it is an issue with the VCV on the injection pump, or with the vacuum modulator on the side of the transmission. The flare is either a vacuum issue, or I messed something up during the linkage adjustment.

I have adjusted the valves, and changed the fuel filters.

Car has an aftermarket CD player. Interior is dirty and a little rough, headliner has a few tears in it.

Pretty good condition BF Goodrich T/A tires.

Very minimal rust for an Ohio car, rockers and floors look great. The rust on the car is pictured. Previous owner told me he had service records showing it was in Arizona and California before he had it, but he did not give me those records so I cannot substantiate that. Bottom halves of the drivers doors appear to have been painted at some point.

I have not washed, clayed, waxed, buffed, etc this car so it will clean up a bit better than it currently sits.

Drove the car about 30 miles today, at half throttle the car drives like it should and shifts well. When floored it shifts early and flares. If you shift manually and hold the shifts until about the max speed in gear on the speedo it shifts nice and firmly into the next gear. I drove the car about 18 miles on the highway at 70-80mph and it performs well and drives like a 240D should. On downshifts if downshifts pretty firmly. I have read VCV issues can lead to flares on the way up and slams on the way down, I played with the VCV and haven't noticed a change, but maybe I am doing it wrong. Make me an offer, I am going to part the car out in the next week or two if it does not sell.
