WTS: 1971 Mercedes Benz 280SE 3.5 Coupe
Selling another gem from my collection to help fund my 911 hotrod project. I really can’t believe I’m about to do this after 10 years of ownership. This was my first classic car and has a ton of sentimental value, but I’m just too busy and into P-cars that something has to go.
This is a beautiful two owner 1971 Mercedes 280 SE 3.5 low grille and one of only 3270 built worldwide between 1969-1971. AGAIN, this is the coveted 3.5 liter V8! Not sure how many made it to the states. This gorgeous Merc is presented in possibly the most iconic and desirable color combo of Silver exterior, Navy interior with the coveted floor shift. No pillar between windows for a completely unique and timeless look. Also has the desirable power sunroof, power front windows, and Behr AC unit that is fully functional and recently recharged with replaced hoses, compressor, and orifice valves so it blows nice and cold. Just put in over $20k in the last 4 months on both interior and mechanical and throughout the whole car with concourse winning, independent Mercedes expert Tom Colitt in Los Angeles. All of the wood trim has been expertly refinished, headliner replaced, new carpets, and new seals throughout including front and back windows. Mechanical work includes new shocks, battery, engine and tranny fluids, and any and all leaks addressed with new gaskets. Comes with extensive records, manual, and books. What the car needs: Original interior except front driver bottom seat was replaced with new leather, upper seat and passenger seats may need addressing based on how immaculate new owner wants it. I like the patina, as there are no rips, just some wear. Back seats look great. Few areas on the roof of car that need paint some paint. Again, didn’t bother me so I never addressed it. Some of the wheel covers have some spots of rash Top of left front quarter had a small area respray to repair a dent on top. A wonderful opportunity to own a one of a kind, hard to find classic and iconic Mercedes that was the flagship car during this era when the brand was at it’s pinnacle. Convertibles of this model are going for crazy prices and coupes are starting to follow. Check recent increase in values for these coupes! Asking $85,000 . Will consider trades for unique air cooled 911’s or modern GT3’s or GT2’s + or – cash as needed. Feel free to call me for any other questions 310-930-4903 Chan Park Last edited by bleek; 12-20-2014 at 07:58 PM. |
