80 300TD Wagon, price lowered to 2K, (Southern California)
80 300TD Wagon. 5 cylinder non-turbo engine. Owned over 13 years, (garage kept most of that time). Just have too many other cars & projects. 167K mileage. 3rd owner, Guy I bought it from had the trans rebuilt (135K miles), have receipt (but it still shifts a little quirky). My mechanic said that the engine looks to be a professionally rebuilt one from someone like Metric Motors. Car was orginally burgandy color, was repainted white. Tan interior in very good condition, original radio was rebuilt. Overall condition is good but certainly not a show car or anything. One of the electric windows does not work. Starts right up no matter how long it sits (of course must maintain the battery, but thats all). Have repair & maintenance records since 1997. Most recent was a new front wheel bearing, new brake booster.
$2,700, (need to sell, have too many cars & out of parking space). http://www.nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/1980/Mercedes-Benz/300TD/4-Door-Station- Wagon/Values Located in Los Angeles (Inland Empire area). Send PM or call 909 319 7320 if interested. Last edited by dlb500; 01-20-2015 at 07:12 PM. Reason: Adjusted price to$2,700 |

Someone ought to jump all over that. $2000 seems way-low for what sounds like a good wagon...

Definately priced too low.
Am frustrated with the Craigslist crowd (that reminds me, better pull that ad down, on second thought for now, just changed the CL ad to $2,700, but will pull the CL ad down in a couple of days). Its a great wagon, regret to sell it but I have way too many cars, don't see that I'll ever get to this one. If it does not sell quickly at $2,000 then I'll just keep it. Someone better take it quick before I change my mind, ($2,000 price good for only a few more days). Last edited by dlb500; 01-20-2015 at 06:36 PM. |

I just re-purchased my 85 300TD that I sold several years ago. There's about $12,000 into it and it still doesn't have good paint. But the interior and wood and AC and cruise and everything work, and it has a rebuild 722.416 transmission. The guy who bought it from me was hit in the RF fender and he had no time or money to work on it, so after a year he offered it to me for cheap. I'm going to take my 6" aluminum steelies off it (that I sold with the car) and fix up the front corner and then decide whether or not to keep it. I really have too many cars so I will probably sell it, but not for $2000...
If yours has a rebuilt Metric engine that alone is worth the asking price. |

Wagon
I agree. Taked with the mechanic that I use this morning, he really favors the 85 Trans. (vs the Trans that is in the 80 wagon now). Previous owner put over 6k in repairs on this car, I have the receipts. Appreciate your input. I think a very reasonable price is $2,700, don't need to give this car away. Price is 2,700 as of now.

Yeah, the 722.416 is more modern and better. My 85 is a really nice car, just don't have room for it also. But $2000 for your wagon is a steal.

I'd say just put it on eBay. You will double your money.

I would tend to agree. Might end up with a flake buyer, but just as likely you will end up with a european buyer...
