Want to buy an enclosed trailer 20 to 28'.

will pay a reasonable price. Will consider an older trailer. Must be sound and ready to use with minor repairs. I'd love to find something for 2500 to 3000.

I bought a trailer today. Its 26' and well used but seems in good condition. It doesn't appear to leak, and the lights and brakes work. Suspension seems fine too; twist tube axle. Its a flat top 2004 Haulmark. It needs new tires. I got it for $4,550 including all taxes and four new tires loose. I bought it from a big dealer at us 36 and IN 43 near Greencastle.

I had looked at all the trailers that they had up ready to go and the best deal was a 20 foot used for $5200 asking. Disappointed I headed home.

As I left I looked once more at their trailers and spotted a few older ones that they had not mentioned but they looked ok so I turned around and asked about this one. He named me an as is price on it saying they just got it in and had not even really checked It out.

So I went and checked the lights and brakes and towed it up to the office and parked it where he could not see I had hooked it up and went in to do a little negotiating.

He did go look at it and made a comment about pricing it too low but he did honor his price and sold me four tires for his cost. It seems in good shape and even has an awning on the side.

Thanks all!

I bought that trailer and have used it two years. Probably more used than any other trailer I have owned. Pretty much trouble free. The only real draw back is it is so big. So I went back to the dealer yesterday to see about a few things...painting it, installing a travel trailer latch on the door and installing an AC unit.

So he started scratching out the prices of things and finally said maybe I should trade it in on a new one. Hmmmm....new one, smaller, with all the stuff I want....maybe a trade for two or three thousand. He had my attention.

So I asked for a quote on a new trailer, my way.

What comments do you all have regarding leaf springs vs torsion axles?

Definitely less (dramatic) movement with torsion bar suspension. Leaf springs will give you more of the butt clenching the seat moments when you hit a pavement rise at 55mph and the trailer starts bouncing. I haul a pretty good size tractor around and hate to use the trailer with leaf springs.

So I never traded it in. the dealer never got back to me with a quote. ....but I just sold it for about what I paid for it and have ordered a new 20' with a v nose, plywood inside, a skylight with reinforcment if I want to mount an RV AC unit and a door latch like a RV so someone cannot lock me inside. Paid just under $5,000 for it. It is supposed to be ready in four to five weeks. Georgia.

Picked it up last few days in southern Georgia. Remind me never to go anywhere that requires driving through Atlanta. Bout three hours creeping along coming home.

Nashville was not much better. I had decided to drive to knoxville and come through cincinnati but missed the turn and decided not to turn around...wish I had.
