1991 300E, 126k, Single Family Owned

Price:$6000
Location: Orlando, FL

Up for sale is my 1991 Mercedes 300E. This car has been in my family since it was new in 1991, and I purchased it from my uncle in 2012 with 84,000 miles on it after the head gasket failed. It now has 126,XXX miles on the clock and I have put a large amount of work in to it over the last two years. All work was done by me (I am a pre 95 Mercedes mechanic) or at the dealer and only genuine Mercedes or German parts were used. I continually service and maintain the vehicle, and it is driven casually.

Service:

Head gasket and head service done at 84,000 miles (head and valves machined and resurfaced. Victor Reinz parts)
Radiator replaced at 84,000 miles (Nissens)
Water pump replaced at 84,000 miles (Laso)
Accessory belt tensioner and pulley replaced at 84,000 miles (Sachs and Febi)
Thermostat replaced at 84,000 miles (Wahler)
Thermostat housing replaced at 84,000 miles (Mercedes)
Valve cover gasket replaced at 120,000 miles (Mercedes)
Throttle Microswitch replaced at 125,000 miles (Mercedes)
Only Zerex G-05 coolant used

Front struts replaced at 85,000 miles (Sachs)
Front strut boots and bump stops replaced at 85,000 miles (Mercedes)
Rear Shocks replaced at 85,000 miles (Bilstein)
Rear Spindle Bushings replaced at 85,000 miles (Lemforder)
Front lower ball joints replaced at 85,000 miles (Lemforder)
Tie rods replaced at 100,000 miles (Mercedes)
Steering damper shock replaced at 100,000 miles (Bilstein)
Shock Tower Mounts at 125,000 miles (Rein)

Alternator voltage regulator replaced at 105,000 miles (Bosch)

AC Evaporator replaced at 110,000 miles (ACM)

AC Receiver Drier replaced at 110,000 miles (Mercedes)
AC recharged with R12

Alignment performed at Mercedes at 118,000 miles

Front flex disk replaced by Mercedes (Mercedes)

Transmission filter replaced at 115,000 miles (Mann)
Transmission modulator adjusted at 120,000 miles

Overload Protection Relay replaced at 115,000 miles (KAE)
Engine Temp switch replaced at 120,000 miles (Mercedes)
Aux fan relay replaced at 120,000 miles (Mercedes)
Spark plugs replaced at 115,000 miles (Bosch)
All hoses replaced at 84,000 miles and 120,000 miles (Rein)
New hood pad (Febi) at 125,000 miles
Battery replaced in 2013 (Duralast Gold top Battery)
Rear muffler replaced at 85,000 miles
Brake pads all replaced at 110,000 miles

Kenwood head unit with USB/aux jack
Windows tinted in 2013

The Good:

The car drives awesome. I've driven this car up to Pennsylvania and back several times and it never missed a beat. Oil always changed every 5,000 miles with Shell Rotella 15w-40 and Mann oil filters. I replaced the head gasket and haven't had a single issue since then. The AC works great and is running R12. Every window and electrical function works.

DEPO Euro headlights installed with HID bulbs. Work GREAT at night and look amazing. Original headlights with wipers included.

Rare rear sunshade option from factory. Interior is a solid 8/10. There are some minor cosmetic issues (peeling door cards, etc.) but all the wood is in great shape and the seats have always been treated with leatherique.

Paint is a 9/10 as well. Some minor scratches and blemishes but that is to be expected on a 23 year old car.

The Bad:

Not really a whole lot actually! Front bumper bottom lip has some damage on it from where the car hit some parking curbs due to bad struts prior to my purchase. Rear bumper impact strip has a minor blemish also from before my ownership.

The antenna mast needs to be replaced, but I am working on doing this before the sale of the car.

The door cards are peeling slightly at the map pockets. The B pillars are peeling and need to be redone.

There is some hazing on the hood, but the rest of the paint is in perfect shape. If necessary I can have the hood painted at buyers expense.

What a great buy considering the amount of work done and 1 family ownership...I would hold steady at this price for sure. eBay might work on this car given the story. You know
