Around here, the difference was getting to be closer to 40% at times... I'm getting the general impressions that that is higher than a lot of the rest of the country, though.

I bought my 230k 87 in 2002 with cracked #17 head. The car had been maintained by MB..I paid $600.. I then bought a 160k om603 for $1600...and got lucky...I say that because without knowing, it also had a 17 head..and also with a trap oxidizer. First start up and ran 65k without fault....I sold the car in 07...because jack-port rust was getting worse, also underbody rust-rot at major rear suspension areas. Car ran tops...The guy I sold it to also had an 87 300 D, His car's turbo never operated...and he never knew it...until he test drove my car before buying it....He was shocked, he asked me what I must have done to soup it up...I said I did nothing....This is why these cars were the fastest diesel production automobiles in the world in 1987!...I miss my 124.
