As nice and clean as this example may be, there isn't much of a market or anyone that would pay $12K for one of these cars. They sell for $5K at best in condition like this.

Do you at least have service records for it?

Mine is almost as clean, same year, same color combo....24 years of service records including full engine/trans rebuild 55k miles ago....and I paid less than half that.

Realistic price is between 5 and 8k to the right buyer I'd say if you have all records and the engine and suspension have had recent (provable) service like rubber parts and timing chain and guides. If it was a mint 560SEL with all options you might see 12k for it to the right person, but 420's are much more common and command a lower price.

For 12k you can buy a 2007 or newer E-class with similar miles on it.

Colors are ok, which never hurts. The market will gently inform this seller if the price is right.

No more knowledgeable customer base than this one. The market is a harsh mistress. Sadly there are a lot of people with money to throw at such a vehicle.

It annoys me when people have a "perfect" car with $5 depo smoke turn signals on it.

Great car though, put it on eBay, you may get lucky.

I agree, ebay is the place for it if you expect a high sale price.
