FS: 1991 Mercedes-Benz 420 SEL California car on the East

Hi guys. I want to say this site has been a wonderful resource over the years. Its come time to sell our beloved MB. I am in a reduce and simplify mode, and I have more summer cars than I can use so its time to say good bye.

My wife and I drove this car across the country from SoCal and it didn't skip a beat. Its a really good driver/summer car. Extremely reliable car. And it loves to be driven on long trips.

Body is in very good shape, no rust and has never seen salt. A ding here and there. The interior leather is nearly perfect, but there is one blemish on the driver's seat stops it from being perfect. There is a picture in my craigslist ad of this imperfection.

I've replaced allot on this car. AC blows ice cold. Here is a list of some of the items I can think of off the top of my head:

This car spent 99% of its life in the Temecula area of Southern California. Since it has been in Maine, it has been garaged and never driven in the winter.

Here is the low-down on repairs since I've purchased the car 5 years ago:

TIMING CHAIN GUIDES AND TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER replaced as preventative maintenance. All w126 chassis Mercedes are prone to premature failure of the plastic guides, and its important to replace these. Soon after I purchased the car I had these replaced as preventative maintenance.

New belts this spring
New front brake calipers
Brake fluid was just completely flushed with ATE type 200.
Lower oil pan gasket seal
Fuel distributor
Fuel injectors
Heating mono-valve
Fuel pumps (both)
Rear endlinks and bushings
New Headlights. (I swapped them US style for the German OEM style. I have the original plastic headlights, but the Euro version of the headlights was a major improvement.
Idle control motor
Brand new factory wheel (chrome was peeling so I replaced) The other three are starting to chip unfortunately.

Tires still have very goof tread, barely 4k miles on them, but I will have to check the miles. They still look nearly new.
I've replaced switches, etc. Lots of miscellaneous items. I have receipts for those items. I have a box of spare parts also that come with the car.
New OEM Mercedes battery 2 years ago.

Also the car has a newer style radio. Has bluetooth phone, etc.

I really hate to sell this car, but I have a baby in the house now, and too many fun cars that aren't much use to us now. The car is not perfect, some imperfections you would expect from a 24 year old car, but overall very clean. Thank you!

Open to offers but please be reasonable. Thanks!

I can send hi-res photos, just email me ambirmin at gmail dot com.

Here is my craigslist post. $7900 OBO

On the car, you need to contact the MB clubs in your area as there will be a greater chance of finding someone wanting such a car than just C list.

Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't had much luck finding one that is local, other than MBCA.org, but I will keep trying.
